I have the Eclipse AVN6620 and the steering wheel controls work fine. Eclipse is used by Toyota for aftermarket purchases from dealers. But I have heard that some people have had issues with newer tacos and the bluetooth kit interfering somehow with the steering wheel controls. I haven't had any problems with my '07 though.

New to forum. Little confused

Hello all, First time poster here. Just picked up an 09 DC 4x4 Sport last night. Too soon for first impressions still.

First thing I want to do is replace the factory head unit. I want in dash navigation and Sirius. Video and Blutooth would be nice but not necessarily needed.

I also want to retain the use of my factory controls.

Any recommendation on a unit that will do this?

Thanks!

I'll bet my 160 gig iPod can hold more movies than your dual layer DVD

FWIW, the Kenwood was easy to bypass as well.. just a ground wire. No speed sensor wire to locate either, which can be a plus.

I'm partial to pioneer but many manufacturers have bluetooth and are compatible with both xm and sirius... i'd go down to your local car audio store and check them out and see which brand you like better and see which decks meet all of your criteria. I've already given my ideal set-up eariler in this thread.

yeah yeah... sure it can, but why waste your time converting them for itunes, and do you change the resolution (smaller) for your ipod? i can leave the videos in SD quality and not do anything, I just make sure i download the movie in dvix format, burn the files to disc and i'm ready to go... i've considered the ipod route but i don't like itunes enough to have to deal with it, and besides do you really need 150 hours of video with you?

I don't use iTunes for movies. You can use DVD or Divx movies and convert to iPod format. A free app called "super" does it. Its pretty simple, I just select the files I want to convert and let it go. Then add them to the itunes library. I have about 50 gig worth of movies on it now, well movies and TV shows.

by converting them to "ipod format" YOU ARE converting them for use with itunes... i'm very familiar with Super, it supports many formats but it's terribly slow, and by converting to "ipod format" you're lowering the resolution and the quailty of the video (noticeable on a larger screen) i'm not saying your way is wrong, i'm just saying i'd rather choose simplicty and speed to the device, and quality over having alot of stuff on one portable device. If I was going to watch a lot outside my truck, it would be much more appealing to me.

btw, i have 600gb of movies and tv shows

I was saying that I don't download them from iTunes.
true, SUPER is slow (SUPER slow maybe? ).. But I just do it overnight and don't notice the speed issue. Sync the Ipod in the morning before I head out and its fine. As for video quality, since its only seen on an iPod screen or the screen in the vehicle its perfect. But you are right, I wouldn't want to watch it on the big screen with it. But I prefer the portable device as I can watch it anywhere, airport, Dr's office, waiting for the wife or in the vehicle.

I have a 3TB media PC in the living room which contains movies/tv/etc.

I don't mind iTunes so much anymore, at first I didn't like it. But since I put MP3's on it already its not too much extra effort to sync movies. I used to use my PocketPC for movies but now it just sits.

I started out with about 500 Gb about 3 years ago...but its grown and been upgraded a few times. But I think I have it under control, I actually delete things now.. its a big step. Right now I have about 300Gb free so there is still room for growth. But the thing feeds the living room and two bedroom media centers so it gets used a bit.
