Anyone have this HU? Kenwood KDC-X995?

so downgraded my touchscreen kenwood in my truck and went back to factory cause i don't use the truck much...well long story short i can't stand the factory stereos looks or sound ....so now i've decided to get just a regular single din stereo....well i purchased the kenwood KDC-x995...just curious if anyone has or thought about buying this HU? just looking for some other feedback.... one of the first things i'd like to do is mod the factory AUX port to work with this HU and add a USB in one of the dash blanks to access the HU's USB....i found the aux wiring, but not the usb yet...i really like the aux/usb from the tundra, but that's one expensive button...anyways here's a link and photo to the HU

I'm wondering about the exact same stereo. I'm on the verge of buying it. I was curious about its connection ability with a bluetooth phone (Droid 2). The Kenwood tech support e-mailed me in a response that I couldn't stream music to the unit, but that surprises me. I know that you can stream Pandora to an X994, so it seems like I could stream Pandora to the X995 too.

So in effect... *Bump*

Just bought that same one, goes in next Tuesday. Got it as a replacement for my new Kenwood KIV-700. I like the KIV-700, but no C.D. capabilities and no Blutooth. I will let you know how it is, and the new KIV-700 is for sale if anyone wants it.

I think I've seen it mounted at where the ceiling meets the windshield and that looked pretty good. I don't know how to do it but when the cord was hidden, the whole mic deal looked really clean and out of the way.

Yeah I can probably run it up the pillar and mount it somewhere around the visor area. Hopefully the wiring will be long enough.

Make sure to let me know what you end up doing and maybe show a picture? I think I'm going to buy it soon if I can scrounge up a little extra dough.

Mine looks similar kind of. Mine is a KIV-BT900 something or other though. No CD but I never listen to CD's anyways.

i have the exact same one, minus the bluetooth. i think its KDC-X794. its fucking awesome. i wish i had that one, but literally the only difference is the bluetooth. haven't had a problem with it yet. my rommmate has one in his 4runner too. he has his stock speakers and a 12" sub and it sounds really good. i have it hooked to polk components and a 8" kicker and it sounds even better. my ipod broke so i just have a 16 gig flashdrive plugged in and its still super easy to navigate all the music. i hardly touch my CDs anymore. the equalizer and all the sound shaping tools are savage. mine was only $200 and i couldn't be happier. you'll be stoked

just installed the KDC895 today

Almost the same model, I got the KDC895 from Crutchfield & installed today. It has bluetooth, which I look forward to using (tough to talk with the 6spd!)

I took a lot of photos & video of the install, which was using the included Metra install kit. Will post them soon.

I ran the Bluetooth mic wire through the glovebox, hopefully this won't be a hassle. Just didn't see another good place to run the mic without it pinching on the faceplate.

So far so happy with it. One tiny gripe: I find it a little tough to eject the faceplate with the Metra console assembly, the radio sits pretty far back, and is tough to claw out with my big fingers.

Just had it installed, not to happy with screen brightness and such. Plus it does not show the album covers when the ipod is on. Which I liked with the KIV 700. All in all it is okay, mounted the mic above the mirror. Anyone interested in the KIV 700 let me know, it is 2 months old and will give you a slammin deal. Plus this unit did not have the same ipod connection. It had a chord that you need to use the usb cable that came with your ipod.

I was going to buy that hu but was told by crutchfield tec that the fold down face would not work in the taco dash. I just installed the 895 a few days ago and I'm real happy with it.

I got the deck and have it all mounted to the kit. I see no issue with the faceplate lowering. They sent me a metra kit. I was hoping for the scosche kit since I prefer the smooth surface but I can always change it later. Hooked it up the the truck to check it out a bit. Seems nice so face. I figure I will mount the mic behind the temp/compass display. Hopefully the wire will be long enough to run thru the pillar and headliner. I'll post pics when it's finally installed. I had to order a couple of USB wires. I want to use a splitter so I can have a USB in my glove box for my iPod and mount another on the dash for my iPhone when need. So once that stuff comes I can put it together. I still can't figure how I can modify one of my dash blanks to use for a USB port. Do u guys just cut and grind away all the excess plastic in the back of the blank so u can gain access to the back of the face of the blank?

Well I managed to dremel down the back of the blank. I think it'll be good to be able to cut out the USB spot. Im waiting for the USB cables to come in the mail. I'll post more as I start putting things together

Have you got the HU into the dash kit yet? I was wondering if the face plate has a problem folding down or if it's able to easily open up and not touch anything.

How are the controls for the radio? Easy to use to navigate around your Ipod, or do you just use the controls on your Ipod?

I have the KDC-X794.

There is a wire that comes out of the back and I just ran it behind the dash to the glove box and just plug my iPod into that.

I use the remote to control everything, pretty easy.

I had the Scosche kit at first, but it rattles like a SOB, I have the Metra kit now, and am very happy with it.

I've always been an Alpine man myself. They cost too much but they always work well.

EDIT: Just saw that you already purchased and installed. Ignore my ignorant comment. Enjoy your new toy.
