I must agree....Sonys are crap and pioneers are not very user friendly. I would either choose alpine or kenwood. Which ever one you do choose dont go based on looks. That never really pans out to well with a HU. Checkout prices on sonicelectronix.com as well. Ive bought a couple HUs from them and have had no problems. Plus they have lower prices. Don't forget the SWC interface. It's a must now that i actually have it installed.

My last touchscreen unit was pioneer and I had sooo many problems w/ it. Granted, that was a few years ago, but still.

I had someone show me the 2011 model JVC double din. I doesn't come with Navigation so it's a little cheaper ($600's) but can hook up to an iPhone and use the iPhone's navigation. When I take the plunge this is what i'm going with.

based on their past quality... i would not even consider sony...

pioneer, alpine, and then maybe kenwood. kenwood used to be the best by far, but that was many years ago.

Amazon just dropped the NX501 price. PM me if you want more details and pics. I'm not too technical but did the install on my own in about 4 hours and haven't looked back.

I ended up buying the sony even though most people suggested the pioneer. I reallly hope that i don't regret my decision, but i think i should be fine and the unit will do everything it should. The pioneer does not do bluetooth music streaming and thats what i wanted.

I had a Clarion NZ500 from Crutchfield. I thought it was a great H.U., but after about 3 months, the LED Display went out on the top of the slide out Screen, so when it was folded in for Stealth Mode, couldnt see anything. Crutchfield told me to send it back for a full credit since they dont make it carry that anymore. I am going to shell out some more clams and upgrade to better unit.

I am probably going to with the SONY XNV-660BT over everyone else for a couple of reasons.

-mostly because GPS is powered by TOM TOM, which means I can update the maps <first year 4 updates for Free; then have to pay, but reasonable> the other did not offer this in the budget range
-The comparable Pioneer and Alpines in that $ range either had a lower RMS output/plus lower preamp voltage, or if it was equal to the sony in that regards, again didnt have the map update ability at all, and didnt have the RDS feed feature (radio text)

So your not alone on plunging into the Sony waters....as long as the HU's dont try and connect to the PSN network with our Credit Cards, we may make it out alive

I would also recommend checking price on Crutchfield, because they include free shiping, kits, and have a sweet warranty

I had my done by a shop the first go around, and they ran all the wiring and hooked up the togle switch under my stering wheel. I was thinking I could manage the H.U. swap, but can find out how they did mine and report back to ya if no one else chimes in.
