I'm looking around on Crutchfield for possible new HUs for either an 06 or an 07 AC (depending on which one I buy, haha)...I'm getting an alert that says flip down faces aren't compatible with the Tacoma?? That's particularly frustrating because I was looking to splurge on the Kenwood Excelon X-995: http://www.crutchfield.com/s_113KDCX995/Kenwood-Excelon-KDC-X995.html?tp=5684 There's really nothing else with the features I'm looking for (Bluetooth, Pandora, and iPod control) that doesn't have a flip-down face but WILL play CDs, and I hate to sacrifice the CD compatibility...even though I haven't listened to a CD in the car in 2 years...

Check out if they say the same for the Pioneer DEH-P4300dvd. If so, they might be wrong as I have one of these in my 09, as do several others. Might check other recent threads for HUs that have been installed and see if Crutchfield lists them as not compatible. They may list them that way since they are giving away the other dash kit instead of the Scosche dash kit. The other one may have some HU issues that the Scosche does not,,, or maybe the almighty Crutchfield is,,, wrong !!! :)

I have an Eclipse AVN726e that has a touch screen that flips down. Works fine for me.

I have a single DIN Alpine with a flip down face. It works fine. It doesn't flip down completely perpedicular however its enough to load a CD.

wait...I can't remember the last time I loaded a CD in there...

All that means is it may or may not be a problem. It has to do with the angle of the dash kit. I have a cheap Sony head unit and if the face was any thicker I wouldn't be able to load a cd when folded down.

Debadged tailgate - Limo tinted windows - Sockmonkey bed decals - Fully custom upgraded stereo 9 speakers w/custom built subwoofer box 1200 watts total power - swapped white and blue LED gauges - integrated backup camera - removed front mud flaps - All interior lights swapped with LEDS
That makes sense considering how the kits are designed. The bottom has that big flat lip that's right next to the bottom of the hu. I guess it would depend where its hinged at and how it flips, very bottom, middle, etc.
