Sub box?

So, sorry if theres already a thread about this but I searched for it and looked at tons of pictures but couldn't find anything.. Is there a sub box that can fit behind my back seat in my 07 DC that doesn't require me to cut out the plastic storage?

I like that box, I clicked on the link and it said I have to remove the plastic trip behind the seat, that's the plastic on the back of my seat right?

What they are referring to is the plastic you originally posted as wanting to retain, i.e., the two panels against the back wall. And while they allow you to leave in place the child restraint brackets spot-welded to the wall, there are other brackets made for the plastic panels to attach that have to be removed for this solution to work. You need to pull off a panel to see & fully understand.

I don't know of any commercially available sub box that will work with the back plastic in place, so please post if you find one. There are a couple of enclosed 8" subs (Vibe Audio and Crutchfield's in-house) that have been mentioned on TW that will fit, but I doubt either would produce the volume one could obtain with the box above, or one of Mr Marv's boxes, etc.

dive in and yank that plastic out, the more air space you can get the better. no way id spend $700 on anything JL has to offer, crooks.

Yeah I'm starting to see that as my only option, it's just a couple of screws right? my only worry is that eventually when it's time for a new truck I'd like to be able to put the plastic back in.

If it were me I'd go with the Super Crew Sound box order the deeper 6 inch mounting depth, put in 2 JL Audio 10w3v3-4 in and wire them in series for a 2ohm load to a Kenwood KAC-8105D. I've ordered 3 boxes for SCS and they all have come in a timely manner 1 1/2 weeks max, they are built to a very high standard, and have great customer service backing them up.

Edit: With the SCS box you will have to remove the entire plastic piece on the back wall and may be on the back seats. No one will notice that they are gone.

They are great subs. You're looking at 4-500 for the whole system but I promise you that it will hit hard enough for 90% of the population. They have great SQ and SPL. The Kenwood KAC-8105D wired in series at a 2ohm load will push these subs at half of their rms capability and if you're a bass freak and want it to hit harder, I doubt it, then you can get either a Kicker IX1000.1 to run them at a full 500rms capability.

these have a mounting depth of 4.75" and will destroy that JL in performance and are only $150 each

anyone have any guess how much it'd be on average to ship one 8' sub box across the lower 48?

I'm surprise nobody has referred you to Mr. Marv yet. He is currently building a box for my 06 DC Taco. I'm also getting ARC 10" sub and Clarus front door speakers including mounts from him. His customer service will blow you away! Trust me, I've already went down the painful road on getting the right box. Lived and learned! Here is a link on some of his work or just do a search on TW: http://s29.photobucket.com/albums/c258/MrMarv/?

Better to call him and get advise. He will spend a lot of time giving you accurate information and will not try to sell you equipment just to sell it. He is based out of Monterey, CA, 831-383-0308.

Hope this helps.

I haven't suggested Mr Marv because I haven't used him or seen his products in person. I have had 3 SCS Boxes and was very impressed with each one of them.
