I am looking to replace the stock stereo in my 2006 Tacoma. Looking at Crutchfield it says that I cannot choose a stereo with a fold-down front. Is this true? Has anyone out there replaced the stock stereo with one that folds-down? It seems every stereo I like has the fold-down front.

What I mean is the type where the face folds down so that you can insert a CD. here is what Crutchfield says:
"Fold-down face receivers will not fit your vehicle. Please verify that your new receiver does not have a fold-down face."

i dont see any reason why a fold down wouldnt work in a taco. my friend had a pioneer premier fold down and i dont see where it takes up any more space by dropping down or anything, plus w/ the single din dask kit for the taco's, there's plenty of room for the face to drop. i think you'd be ok with one.

I had a fold down face JVC deck in my truck for several months...

Now I have a motorized fold down Pioneer deck. I don't have any issues with either.

I think Crutchfield is talking about the decks that have LCD screens (like a DVD or navigation system) that fold down instead of up. This would block the A/C controls and hazard switch.
