'Sup everybody, I'm still looking for a tacoma, but I want to get a head start on my audio system (Christmas and such:)). I'm gonna get a 2002-2004 tacoma double or extra cab, and I want to get 2 10" subs put in the back (with the seats still in). I also want it to be as tough as possible. Other than that I just want a WELL above average sound system.
This is NOT a "what's the best sound system" question. I'm an audio novice, and I want to look at COMPLETE systems people have built so I can choose the one I like best.
I'm essentially having trouble piecing together what will Fit in a tacoma or not, and I don't want to buy something and find out it doesn't fit.
(Put total price with you post if you can!)

ive got an alpine cde-121 head unit (http://www.alpine-usa.com/product/view/cde-121/), replaced all 4 speakers (not tweeters) in my 2001 xtra cab. got 2 6x8 kickers in the back and 2 5x7's for the front. no subs yet. I just have to decide if I am going to give up my back "seats" for two subs, (because fuck having 1) and which model of kicker subs they will be. Either going for 2 x 600 watt (http://www.google.com/products/cata...ov2CKTk0QGG5bHfCQ&ved=0CM4BEPMCMAU#ps-sellers) subs or 2 x 1000 watt (http://www.google.com/products/cata...vzQFKXe0QHA4ejeCQ&ved=0CIIBEPMCMAA#ps-sellers) subs. not sure about amp yet but it will be a 4 channel for sure and capacitor(s) yet.

i got a sony xav-62bt with a 400w clarion amp connected directly to my front door speakers, 500w max 120 rms 6x9's, and it sounds alright for now.. good highs and low. the 6x9's r 5 ways which i always thought were kinda goofy but sound real good. trying to find a good sub set up to keep both back seats functional. for u, a good head unit, new door speakers, new tweeters and prob 1 10" sub.. i had 2 12" subs in my ext cab ranger and it was just too much bass in such a small area so 1 sub would suit u fine

Thanks for the info, what is the actual absolute maximum mounting depth for subs behind the seats (while keeping the seats in) in the 1st gen access cab/double cab? The websites selling the boxes are all at about 5" but I've seen people say up to 6"?

I've been around here for a year or so now, and I've got to admit, at times, it can be quite hard using the search function, especially when it comes to looking up something as simple as a "build" thread.

I don't know how difficult this would actually be, but it would be super sweet if there was a "build" subforum here in the Audio & Video forum (same could be said about a "build" subforum in many of the other areas as well.

Maybe I'm just not using the search function in a way I should be using it, but some people title their builds as "my stereo system" or " <Name> 's <adjective> stereo/build/system". It'd be one thing if everyone had used the same type of thread title, but we're all over the place.

I just recently saw a guy who put two 10"s under his back seats. I don't have the time to do that but does anyone know someone/somewhere I could go to? I don't want 2 10"s under the seat, but I would love some 8"s.

I haven't seen two 10's, but there is an awesome build with two 8's. Unfortunately, as an audio novice, building such an enclosure is probably out of your depth, and paying a shop to do it would probably be very very expensive.

Talk to Mr. Marv about what you want and he can set you on the right path. Alternatively, the JL Stealthbox isn't cheap, but it is a pretty good setup to get two 10's in your truck.

Does the Stealthbox come with amps/subs? If it does, are they any good?

No amp but it does come with a pair of 10w1 subs. About the middle of the road for jl 3 from the bottom and 4 from the top the box was designed for them and sounds great it works very well. It depends on what your looking for sound quality is very good and output is more than most people will ever need. If you are looking for bass that can be heard from 37 miles away the. It is not for you.
