Another CB antenna mount question.

Just picked up a Firestik door jamb mount for a CB antenna. Will there be a grounding issue if I mount behind the tailgate area (where the taillights bolt into)

 

If there is any RF grounding problem (very likely), you can always run a grounding strap (flat braided wire) from the antenna mount to the truck's metal frame (or a bolt connected to that frame). While this isn't exactly ideal, it will probably lower your SWR readings to a reasonably acceptable level.

By the way, make sure to use a braided wire grounding strap instead of simple wire. The latter will have too much resistance to properly accomplish this particular goal. At the same time, keep that grounding strap as short as possible, again to reduce resistance.
