Hey all. I have a question regarding these phones. I'm looking at trading in my iPhone for one, and with regards to the music ability, I have a question. For those with a USB port on their radios (Stock or Aftermarket), does the phone work like an iPod when connected? Can the head unit read the music on the phone and play it?

To the USB port, no. You'll have to use the 3.5mm jack. So far that I know of only apple has interfaces into the cd player. (Pioneer is big on this).

You can use it through the USB cord, depending on the headunit. On my pioneer it'll read the phone as a mass storage device...much like plugging a flash drive in. Not as intuitive as the ipod interface though. Wish more manufacturers would incorporate an interface for android.

So from those two responses, it sounds like a definite maybe. :) Okay, well once I get home, I'll see if I still have the manual for my Alpine. See what that says. Thanks.

it will not be, unless you have the media player turn on to play music, they do not like ipod or iphone that automatic play music.
