IMO you may want to consider a midrange to bridge the gap between an 8 inch midbass and tweeters. very few 8 inchers or tweeters can cover a wide enough frequency range to sound good together. personally i'd swap out one pair for 8 inchers for something like a 4 or 5 inch midrange. you may need to get another processor or amp to properly set crossover frequencies, but you'll be glad you did.

    Don't worrie,
It's not my first walk in the park. When I'm done I'll have a perfect or as close to perfect flat response curve w proper cut offs and x- over points;)
The freq response of the drivers I selected will work just fine.

I'm currently collecting gear for the bulk so no pictures at this pint but ican try did a few vids of the old set up at competitions and demos

When you have a sub stage that will drown out most 6 1/2s?
With today's new drivers you can very easily get the response you desire

I just added a Alpine type R to the ext cab.
Not really as good as I expected it to be, especially in the lower range. I have it in a ported box.
I have hertz component speakers and a 100w rms front and rear so the sub just sounds just like a good door speaker. I think it had to break in abit though, I was used to 2 12s in a ported box, so it's a little different than what I'm used to

How much power to the sub?
Do yourself a fav, if that is a prefab box, but a sheet of birch ply and build a new box, tuned much lower. Prefab boxs are garbage
Another thing you should check is if you have the coils wired correctly, you may have put d4 or d2 coils in series pumping the resistive load to high and the amp being unable to produce much power at that load

Sorry for not running the wires under the carpet or something. I had to do it in the parking lot here on campus.

Man, that's a lot of work. Are you guys rebuilding to fit more drivers in the doors or just for looks? I'd love to add another pair of Mille's to my doors but I just don't have the patience to rebuild my doors.

Well the truck is basically used for demoing to people at the shop, just to show what they're capable of. The first time they redid the door panels, they wanted to maintain some sort of factory look. Plus to make room for the 3 way and to get it angled where they want it. Now since they threw LEDs into the mix, they wanted to incorporate the blue LEDs into the door panels, so they decided to just go all out.

The first time they did it

How is the sound with an upgraded HU and factory speakers? I'm planning to order a Pioneer x5500bhs from crutchfield this Christmas and not upgrading speakers yet, just curious.
