So I just tuned my antenna...
Channel 1 swr = 1.7, channel 40 swr = 1.7.

Is that okay? Is there anything I can do to improve that? 3" fire stick ngp
Behind the cab on the drivers side.

1.7 isnt too bad.

on mine, i (accidentally) cut about 1/4 inch off of the coax and was able to tune mine down to 1.5. ehh.. it all performs about the same anyway

That's acceptable even though not ideal. What's your SWR on Channel 20? I might suggest going with a 4' antenna to get more of it above the roofline if you have the overhead clearance for it (no garage) or using a removable mount if you don't.
