I've always preferred Pioneer vs Kenwood. Personal preference but I like my AVH-3400bt a lot and got it new for 200$>

I just installed the 8400 earlier today. Fantastic headunit and I say that while owning an Android rather than iPhone. 4400 is basically the 8400 excluding:
    - detachable faceplate
    - mixtrax
    - QVGA rather than VGA

I believe that's it. Based off how the 8400 is, I would recommend the 4400.
