No mods as of yet other than the fact that it is lifted. I just purchased the vehicle, so I am eager to see what everyone is doing with their rigs!
Okay, so I just got an OEM touch screen hu cheap, and I am going to attempt this mod, but I am fairly new to this forum and mod-ing in general. I've been trying to follow this thread with limited success. Also, most of the links are broken... Any and all help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for your time!

I have a 2014 non nav non JBL but with touchscreen OEM headunit but i would like to trade it for a 2012 unit (one with larger volume and tune knobs)

I find the smaller knobs a PITA in the winter when trying to manipulate them with heavy gloves.

    Anyone interested in a trade?

This is an awesome thread, but it's also pretty baffling... Someone who knows should make a chart or something that breaks it down a bit.

I have an 08 JBL System and it's dying. What are the best options? I personally don't care about Sat or Navi or phone calls, but I like the bigger touch screen.

@Jerez If I have the same non-JBL touch screen head unit as you do, and I am installing it into my Tacoma with a JBL system do I need to bypass the JBL amp?

Yes. The easiest way to go about it is to match jbl with jbl and non-jbl with non-jbl. You will have to source a couple of wiring harnesses, but that is not difficult too do. I installed a 2013 touchscreen jbl head unit into my 2006 Tacoma. At first, I purchased a non-jbl head unit for my jbl Taco, which meant that I had to bypass the amplifier and source multiple extra wiring harnesses to install the head unit. I finally sold the non-jbl hu and bought a jbl hu. It makes the whole process much simpler... Just a few words of advice that I wish I had gotten when I first endeavored to do this mod.

Hey everyone, my apologies if this has been covered before and I didn't see it. I have gone through this thread a few times trying to find information on installing a non JBL non entune 2012 stock radio (shown in pic below) into my 2011 dcsb. I currently do not have Bluetooth (but would like to get it) but do have sat. radio. Any info is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!! Jerez, I see you tried to install this hu awhile back but am not sure how different the 2011 is from your truck.

When I had my 12 my truck came with this same radio. At first I installed a factory 6 disc out of an 11 and all the hook ups were the same so you shoud have no issues at all. Since you don't have Bluetooth all you should have to do is get the mic. pt546-74120-mc mic

Thank you very much for the info! I attempted to swap out the head units this past weekend but ran into the same issue that Jerez had. There was about a 1/4" gap at the top of the unit. All of the plug-ins matched up however. Any suggestions on how to make it fit besides using a sledge?? LOL I tried swapping the brackets, using washers as shims, however did not get very far with it.

Without hacking it up( which I don't recommend) just buy the center part behind the radio from a 12 or newer Tacoma.

Sorry I am a bit of an idiot. What do you mean by center part?
