Crutchfield and eBay have both got business from me last week. There were cheaper prices than Crutchfield but they had some good freebies such as dash kit and wire harness so it was a better deal.
eBay was the only place I could find the speakers since they stopped making them.

A lift, some wheels, some tires, some performance, some cosmetic and then audio.
Local cause of the warranty on the install and car audio. Pay more but if you need something fixed or returned they will swap it with a new one so no down time.

I order from crutchfield. where I live they mark everything up from msrp then act like they are giving you a deal when they sell it to you at msrp. Cant beat crutchfield free install gear, instructions, no tax, free shipping, tech support.

Online. I used to buy from Tweeter since they usually had a good selection. Since they went out of business the only real option is Best Buy so I stick with Crutchfield usually.

And not necessarily a warranty issue but Crutchfield was a pain in the dick to deal with when they sent me a dash kit that was a defect from the factory and they kept trying to insist my truck was different and they must have changed something rather than just acknowledge (i even emailed them pics clearly showing it was just a bad part) that I was sent a bad part (which wasn't even their fault!). They kept giving me the run around trying to send me other stuff to try when I just wanted the exact replacement of what they sent me. After a couple weeks I just bought my own from Amazon which as i suspected fit fine. Upon showing Crutchfield they did to their credit immediately offer to reimburse me for what I bought off Amazon.

made my first order with crutch field last week, the online chat with a representative was very helpful. the parts arrived today so i began wiring the harnesses together, had a question so i called the Tech # and within 30 seconds of calling had my question answered. i was VERY PLEASED with my experience with them, will return for business when it comes time to add to the stereo

I just made a purchase this weekend through Crutchfield. A new deck and wire harnesses are coming later this week. It's saving me just about $300 between prices and installation.

Can an average DYI guy install his own stereo system? I'm all stock right now, 04 Taco Prerunner.
The speakers are not my worry, just removing the oem, installing the new, and using the mounting/trim kit.
    I'm looking at Crutchfield.

Yes, you can do it especially with the help from the great people here at Tacoma World! There is a thread for everything you need to know. Oh, and I bought my pioneer 4400 HU online at Best Buy for $366 and ordered everything else from Amazon. Great prices there!

I usually check out the "scratch n dent" section of Crutchfield and have bought 2 head units and a couple of amps for great prices -- and I didn't find a scratch or dent on any of them. You still get the free installation gear and same warranty.

I have had to resort to eBay for custom speaker adapters when they weren't available from Crutchfield (or build my own, but I am both lazy and cheap, so however the equation works out . . .)
