Music Storage

Outside of an MP3 player, does anyone have information on music storage for your automobile? I'm looking for something thats 200-500 GB and is connected to the head unit via Aux. cables. I've seen these before and music is uploaded from your computer or wi-fi spot.

 

Today we tried the USB adapter for the Pioneer on my stereo and it didnt work although its supposed to be able to handle 250 gig.... I know some have tried this and it worked but not for me. It would have been nice to control it through the stereo too. But my 30 gig MP3 is fine.... For now.

 

i'm running a pioneer p7900bt with a usb 250gb hard drive. it works great... total control from the head unit. i have 3 of these drives that i just swap out to suit my moods.

 

WOW - My 30 GB iPod has almost all of my music on it. I can't even listen to all of it in a month.

 

I hear ya! If you have 750 GB of music you truely are spending lots of money or something....I think 250 GB would suit me fine.

Brian - how much did the Pioneer cost you? If you don't mind me asking

 

Heh, i've been downloading music since before downloading music was cool!

i paid 300 for my stereo only cuz i have a friend at my local best buy and he hooked me up.

 

Mine was $329 and that was a great deal considering. I think Brian has worked out why the USB wouldnt work for me, wrong format on the drive. I will change it tomorrow and try again.

 

Sounds like this is the kind of system I'm looking for! Where do you mount the hard drives? Are they easily accessible? What is the procedure for uploading music onto the drives? How are the drives connected to the head unit? Thanks for all the great information so far!
