so i installed my double din the other day using factory brackets... now that i am in a living situation where i ride poorly maintained dirt/rock roads and washboard gravel roads, the screen bounces around a lot to the point of making lots of noise...

are there any fixes to this? i imagine once i start off roaring out here, it will only get worse and possibly to the point of falling out..

What model is it? Do you have a pic of which part exactly is loose? The whole unit shakes or just the screen at a certain point, etc?

More info will be easier to help with, and pictures beats trying to paint one with words.

It shouldnt move at all. Has to be improper installation. The only other thing could be lose screws on your mounting brackets or screws not in the proper position... I guess that would fall into the improper installation category though :notsure:

Find out where the loose points are and see what you can do to either tighten some screws or place a spacer between of sorts, such as the velcro mentioned above. Your first step is going to be finding the source of the problem

My pioneer does the same thing. I think the only way to keep it from shaking is custom brackets. The weight of the stereo is too much for the cheap brackets.

I got my first 4x4 in 1972...haven't been without one! I still like Chrome!
Did you put any washers on the screws that to into the side of the Kenwood? Sometimes the head of the screw will try to pull through the plastic.

I have the scosche kit which uses plastic brackets, I can go off road and my DVD player never jumps at all. I think I need to see a pic of these brackets you have.

The only 3 reasons that the metal ones should bounce around (I used the metal ones first until I realized the viewing angle was shit and didn't want to drill).

    1. You only put 1 screw on each side. The deck needs 2 screws on each side as a minimum.
    2. Screws fell out that held the deck in place or the brackets in place.
    3. God hates you.

    Yes and no.

    They are plastic, not metal..

    however

The metal ones will give you a horrible viewing angle with any DVD player in the truck. The Socshe will correct that issue. You could also drill new mounting holes into the metal brackets. But if bouncing is an issue, I'd get a Socshe kit. Mine doesn't bounce even when wheeling.
