Looking pretty hard at a 2012 DCSB trd sport with Nav. After browsing around here it sounds like its as useful as a poopy flavored lolly pop...

Has anyone replaced it with an aftermarket Nav unit? And if so, was it pretty straight forward swap or was it pretty difficult?

buy one without the nav and just replace the stock headunit, save you some money for sure

True, but if the dealer goes down enough on the price, I'll probably get it. The truck is exactly what ive been looking for (Nav included), but I'm just curious if down the road I can swap it for a better functioning Nav that can utilize the backup camera and other things.

I gotcha man and yes, there are several options on the market for nav that will hook up to your backup camera

awesome, thanks! After browsing around it looks like there are a few dash kits becoming available for the 12's.. Maybe I'll be able to sell the entune to help offset the cost..

I just upgraded from my '05 double cab Prerunner to a new '12 double cab TRD Sport with the Entune & nav. I guess the map is Bing powered, and it's very quirky and doesn't show any private or farm roads, which Google Maps does. The unit itself is fine, but the software sux. I'm hoping that there is, or will be, an app to use Google Maps or to replace the software with something other than Bing. In the meantime, I guess I have to accept the fact that the "home" function of the nav, puts me into a lake!

Anyone else got any info on a plug & play replacement for the HU? Im happy with the sound system and honestly I dont mind the HU but I hate the nav software. Its incredibly un-intuitive to use. If there was a way to load google maps or something I would keep it. Any ideas?

So factory nave sucks why, because the maps are internet based instead of on a DVD like my 07 Tundra had?

Well I did it!! Very easy!! Just used the PAC JBL harness and box and the 2012 -2013 dash kit and it works great! Even the factory sub...was going to make a thread but didn't see the point as it was plug and play...LOVE the pioneer nav over the entune and the sound quality as well..ordered the whole kit off of eBay for 99$ free shipping..PAC harness an Metra dash kit

    .
Sub'd for info ... in case I have to replace (OEM Nav & Entune) later ... mine has minimal issues (less issues than my Garmin).

The JBL is OK ... but a bit too pricy for what it is (speakers w/ tiny magnets) ... but Nav is fine so far.

What HU did you use? Do you have a link to it? Are all of the controls on the steering wheel retained? Looks great man, give us some more info.

Pioneer avic-z110bt with nav,Bluetooth,iPod/iPhone control and display,sat,hd,cd/DVD wired so can play movie anytime, full voice control of everything as well..I had it in my tundra but removed when I sold it...my steering controls do not work as I haven't gotten the box for it yet..but it's just another plug and play item.
