    Hey everybody,

So recently installed a sound system in my truck and now it makes a popping sound when i go from 0 to 1, or 1 to 0; or when i turn the car on or off.

From what i've read its from having the gain to high i think so i turned that all they way down and still popping. Ran the RCA and Battery seperarte sides of the vehicale and nothing. I also have an MX3 Bass Controller which is supposed to clean the signal but still popping.

Anyways here's the list of stuff in my truck.

Kicker l7 Solobaric 12" in a Box made to specs
    Kicker KX 400.2
    Stinger 1 Farad Capacitor
    MX3 Bass Controller
    Kru Konceptz Wiring Kit.

    The Amp has adjustments for
    -Bass Boost
    -Gain
-And Cross over with a switch that lets me choose -off, low, high

And the MX3 has adjustments for
    -Boost
    -Bandwith
    -Frequency
    -Low Pass Filter
    -Subsonic Filter
    -Sub Input Level
    -Sub output Level

    Anyways any help is appreciated!

Did this start randomly or has it been doing this since day 1?

my friend has a mustang and theres a sub in it and whenever you turn his mustang on or off it always pops and scares me. if yours doesnt do it randomly while your playing music, i wouldnt worry about it...... unless it annoys you. but i dont think its hurting anything.

It's not a quiet pop. It's loud, like it'll shake my rear view mirror a little. But when i lower the controls on the amp my sub sounds like stock speakers

In the mustang this has something to do with a factory amp having/needing a 5v remote turn on, and when you swap decks your now supplying 12v so it pops on startup. Something like that its been years since I worked on those mustangs. But its a common known problem with a known solution too

I know for a fact their is an easy answer for this but for some reason I just can't think of it. Its been awhile since I had this problem. And right now I've been working for almost 15hrs on 4hrs sleep so I can't think to save my life. When it comes to me I'll let you know. I wanna say it has something to do with either your amp ground, or your remote turn on wire. I think its the turn on but I forget exactly what causes it. I'll get back to you

Pull the RCA cables from the amp and turn on the vehicle. If it still pops, it's your amp and you need a relay. If it doesnt pop, check your ground and remote turn on wire.

A lift, some wheels, some tires, some performance, some cosmetic and then audio.
After installing my Eclipse 726e w/o my AudioControl Four.1 (cause I went from single din flip out to double din so no room for EQ) I had turn off pop. After cutting the AC vent and adding my EQ it went away.

When you say it sounds like stock speakers, you aren't running highs through the sub right? Make sure only the low frequencies are going to your subwoofer. Make sure the RCA's that plug into the back of the headunit are plugged into the subwoofer RCA's connectors. That's just what I thought of when you sadi they sound like stock speakers.

Hmm. Yeah as long as you have the RCA cables plugged into the rear/subwoofer connectors is should be good. Otherwise make sure your sub isn't blown and even the connections inside the box are nice and tight. Make sure the amp crossover is set on low or off and your equalizer on your headunit is set to flat or off. Try taking out the MX3 from the system and see if it still makes the pop. If it doesn't then you know it's just a setting on the MX3.

alright i was confused with the crossover. Ill set that to off. and yeah ill take the MX3 out of the equation. I know the Sub isnt blown cause i hooked it up to a buddies system and it ran perfectly.
