I own a 2010 Toyota Tacoma Access Cab and the stock stereo is not loud at all. Even when the volume is at the max level it is still not very loud. I just want to know what I would need just to increase the volume for a reasonable price. I don't really know a whole lot about stereos, speakers, etc. Your help would be greatly appreciated

    -Thanks

You should be able to do a search or check out the audio/visual section. I agree with you though, I have a 2006 TRD Sport with the upgraded JBL system and it still sucks!!

Somewhere between $500-600. Is that going to be even close to enough?

I just went to my local Mothers Window Tint and they said it would be $500 to install new JBL speakers and amps. Would you recommend against JBL?

I just bought a 2012 Tacoma (without JBL) and have decided to upgrade my system as well. I like the OEM stereo and want to keep my steering wheel controls, so I do not plan on replacing the unit.....yet. What a local shop told me was that I would need new speakers for the front and rear and an amp to power them. I'm going with Kicker all the way around. For the front speakers, I'm getting the Kicker 6x9 KS693. For the rear, Kicker 6.5 KS65. And for the amp, Kicker DX 400.4. At Best buy, the cost was $520 not including installation. I priced them on Amazon and can get them for $370. Good luck.

Thanks, I actually just went to Best Buy and the guy working audio said I could just buy speakers and pay them $40 to install and he said it would make a big difference.

Check these out. Boston Acoustics is a great brand and sound wonderful.

I didn't realize that the shallow mount JL's were out. How/Where did you get them?

Satoshi'd grill. blacked out badges. aftermarket sound system. De-chromed and color matched. OME 885s + Dakars with 3rd leaf removed. LR UCAs. Scs stealth 6 with 285 duratracs. BAMF sliders
If you just want the music a louder an aftermarket headunit and new front coaxial speakers would make a pretty significant differnce and you could do this for pretty cheap, maybe even 300-400 bucks for a decent sounding system. I would think just replacing the speakers wont get you alot more volume, it will help tho. replacing the headunit will get you more volume but those speakers would sound like shit if they could go any louder. So if you want to keep the headunit you should definatley look into getting an amp and some nice front speakers but theres not much you can do with those speakers in the headliner besides disconnect them. You should just go all out like i did, get a in-dash nav, amp, sub, new speakers all around. Only would cost like $2000

I would have done something like this if i was on a budget, leave the stock tweeters, maybe still connect the rear speakers but if your going to crank it you might as well fade all the way to the front cuz those little rear headliner speakers will crack and pop. If you want volume and real nice sound quality buy a amp and component speakers, the sound quality will be amazing compared to stock.

So what if I just got a new head unit and speakers? How much of a difference would that make?
