You will have to remove the JBL amp to fit this box.

There's plenty of room for an amp under the seats the best way to add an amp would be a line out converter. When I get on the comput I'll link you to a few but JL's is called the Cleansweep. It let's you get rid of the factory tuning that will dull down the sound and ruin sound quality of the subs.

    Ok.

Your Stock JBL amp will not fit with this box as it takes up the all the space behind the seats. You could relocate it under the seats, never tired to but it will fit. Your sub amp can mount to the box if its fits in that space.

I'd highly suggest getting an After market HU. A good one will power the JBL speakers just fine without issues and it will allow you to use RCA outputs vs. line converters (which tend to suck ass).

I'm looking at amps with built-in line out converters, I just needed to know where to mount the old JBL amp and if there's enough cable to put it somewhere else, because it definitely won't fit in its old mounting spot.

Under the seat would be your only choice with that box.

Would I have to take the plastic storage bins out, or do you think I can just throw the stock amp in the existing storage?

I'm eventually planning on replacing the stock head unit for one with GPS and completely replace the JBL amp, but I don't stick swapping the stock unit out for a non-amped receiver would increase the overall quality (except for the sub), since the JBL is pushing 45W RMS per speaker and a head unit would only push 15-20. I don't have enough money to do the whole system at this point, so I'm going to do the sub first and keep the stock head unit.

i'm doing the same thing - stock headunit for now with a LC7i - then upgrade to a NAV head unit down the road.

currently, i'm thinking i will mount the LC7i under the seat and then get an amp rack to mount two amps along with a custom box for behind the seats of the DC. i'll have to see about getting someone to make the box and amp rack for me.

good luck with your install. keep us posted.

For the box you listed all plastics have to come out, odds are you'll have to chop off the mounts for baby seats as well and there will be almost no room for an amp back there.. Depending on the amp you MIGHT be ale to mount it to the box, but its bad practice to mount amps to sub boxes.

Reason I say get a new HU is that working with the stock JBL one is a nightmare. You will go through tons of hoops to get it working only to throw it all out later and get new equipment.

If I were you. I'd start saving up, buy pieces here and there, then install it when you have it all. It will be less of a headache down the road.

Its not worth it to try and save the JBL amp. Find yourself a decent inexpensive 4 channel amp. The jbl amp is not 'square' and certainly not pretty. The subwoofer is built into the assembly as well.

I had the JBL system in my truck and 'upgraded' here and there, and eventually scrapped it all. I just installed a new DEH-80PRS tonight and couldn't be happier.

IF you are set on keeping the JBL system in place, get the Scosche JBL/Bose digital adapter. Its roughly 50 bucks, it works like a line out converter, but takes the digital signal from the head unit instead and provides you RCA outputs for your amp. A much cleaner solution while still retaining all the 'stuff'.

This thread is about a month old - unfortunately my truck was just stolen and recovered by the police with everything missing, so this project is on hold for awhile. Thanks for all the ideas and advice though!

Holy hell I didn't put 2 and 2 together that this was you from the Az thread.

Dude just PM me when you want to do stereo. I'm in Chandler and I'll get you setup and on the right path. If you want we could sit down some time and chat about it vs. emails and what not. I know that won't be for awhile but I'm not going anywhere :)
