Hi, I just purchased a new 2012 Tacoma TRD 4x4 Ext Cab.

The stereo needs a boost for sure. Does anyone know if you can just change all the speakers and add a amp to the current head unit. ( Don't really want a subwoofer) Would be nice to change all 4 door speakers to some nice ones and the tweeters.

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes you can change the speakers, hook up an amp to them and use the stock HU.

But honestly, the Stock HU is junk. I wouldn't keep it if you plan on running amps and speakers.

To do this, you'll need to wire up your amp, then run some speaker wires into the area where the deck is, then splice into the factory wires for each speaker.
    OR (what I did)
You can run all new wires, bigger ones, to each speaker.. It's a lot of work but worth it.

Since the stock deck doesn't have RCA outputs for amps, you'll need a converter as well.

A lift, some wheels, some tires, some performance, some cosmetic and then audio.
You have the room go double din audio video navigation. Alpine, Pioneer, Kenwood all makes great ones. Depends on what you want to spend.

You will need a four channel line output converter. It's a little bit of work but running new speaker wire might be better but you don't have to and it depends on what speakers you go with. Also if you end up wanting dot the i's and cross the t's check out the JL audio clean sweep it might be something you are interested in or it might not no harm in running to the local mom and pop shop and getting the expert opinion and maybe a demonstration.
