As much as I want to upgrade to a nice component set I think my car audio budget will not allow me to get the "good stuff" so I am looking for a nice pair of 6X9s for the front doors. I have been to a few car audio shops and they all tell me that 6X9s are past their prime and they don’t really make a good set any more. I agree that component systems sound WAY better but I just don’t want to spend that kind of money right now.

Who makes good 6X9s these days??? I have heard Boston and Pioneer and for $200+ they dont sound bad. Is there another brand I should look into?

you could easily get a set of decent components for 2 bills.

Sundown Audio 100.4 and 1500D, Pioneer 880PRS, Zapco Refernece 6.5" comps, 2 10" Image Dynamics IDQ, 200ft of Second Skin deadener, Kicker wire
the ID XS69 comp set is badass but about $550. If you want a cheap set I have a set of 3way Kicker 6x9's on my shelf. they are brand new in the box and has never even been opened. $60 shipped. Circuit city has them for $150 or $180 dont remember if you want to listen to a set first.
