Looking for opinions on Double DIN kits. It seems like all of them I've seen look cheap.

Anyone have any recommendations for a nice 2 DIN dash kit for 05+ Tacos that actually could pass for stock?

I have a Scosche single din ( the double din is the same, only double :D ) and it looks factory to me.

I'm just down the road from you, and have the Scosche double din. Although it looks pretty factory, it is a cheap POS.

That's what I thought. Scosche kits never impress me, it seems.

Where about in Austin you at? I live in Georgetown, but I'm all over the place for my job.

Your stuck with Schoshe or Metra, each one has there benefits and not-so-benefits. Schoshe looks more factory, uses it's own plastic mounting brackets, DD HU do fit more vertical for a bit less glare. Metra uses the stock metal brackets, but this angles the HU up some, the dash plastic then is just mounted using only the clips so it's a bit looser. You'll need to research a bit more to find out which works better for you. I tried them both and am using the Schoshe, the fit is better and I haven't yet had any issue with the plastic mounting brackets.

I got a metra from Crutchfield with my new head unit. the build quality is not great but hey it was free with the headunit. I can't complain about the looks though the texture is the same and the color is not noticeably different unless you compare them side by side in the sun I did have to cut a bit on the hazard button cut out to get the button to move freely. Also from the molding process there were some defects I had to shave off leaving black plastic showing so I took some Testors Model paint (aluminum color) and painted over it. The color is damn near perfect and as long as you don't get any on the front face you wont notice.

Try *********.com, they sell scosche and metra. I have a metra, no complaints here. Keep in mind NONE will be an absolute perfect fit.....but you have to be really looking to notice it.
