Enclosure brainstorming..would this work? Anyone tried it?

OK, I have a pair of 12's in my regular cab (not shallows). I'm hitting the seat lever in the back, so I'd like to get something thinner than the enclosures I have now which are 19 1/4 inches wide.

It looks like I'd need about 3 inches thinner or so to clear the lever.

The height of it is only 15 inches, so it looks like turning the box on its side would work. Problem is it's an angled box *grr*

Seems like a thinner but taller box would clear the lever if it was built that way. Has anyone found something like this? I'd rather not go custom if I don't have to, just rather not dish out a fortune..I can't imagine I'm the first truck owner to deal with this and I'd rather not replace my subs to the tune of several hundred dollars.

Trying to make it work if I can, it beats having to buy new speakers if the ones I have work just fine.

I have Polks now, can get a set of MTX's.

 

you could just do what we did in the old days, make a blow-thru

cut a hole in the bed and cab, run wide camper shell accordion seal on both edges to mate the cab and bed.

now you have the entire bed to make a proper sub box.

you may want to have a locking tonneau cover before this.....

 

Just rebuild the boxes. Keep the same volume. Should be simple math to find the current volume and then build new ones with the same airspace. This works just fine.
