I have not done this as of yet but i have been looking into it as i like the factory entune jbl sound but would like more bass.. i have a wire diagram for the headunit and amp.. what it looks like is the hu only outputs to 4 speakers...and the amp puts out signal to four plus factory sub.. what im looking at is splicing into the sub output wires and running an additional jbl amp made for this type of setup.. it has a high level input built in and looks to have everyrhing you need to set it up minus the power wires. And then replacing stock sub wirh an jl 2..as it looks there should be enough room to fit the add on amp behind the plastic also.. keeping the stock look..

the etune radio or jbl radio has nothing to do with wiring it up any different way. just use a line level converter like you would on any other radio. if you have any other ?'s lemme know

Well I know the basic way is of wiring the speakers is not different and either you need an inline converter or an amp with high level inputs, but I was just starting a way I plan on doing it for cleaner sound. That's all.. with that said. If you have a factory amp it is different if your wanting to use a stereo amp for all speakers and not just a mono amp for a sub

I'm wanting to do the same thing. Wire my amp to the factory HU. What I need to know is how to wire the remote power on wire for the amp. Is there anything coming out of the HU that I can wire it to without cutting into the wires? Since my truck only has front speakers, I'm assuming the rear speaker outputs are there just not in use. I will hook those to an output converter to get my rca jacks for the amp. I have a 12" Punch P3 2 ohm dvc and hifonics hfi 1000d that I plan on squeezing in behind the seat.

I'm thinking of doing this aswell , if you search alot of the 4runner guys do this with their oem jbl box and they swear by it .

Only thing I recommend is doing some sound proofing like dynamat or fat mat around the box and related interior plastics while you have it apart .
