Cool Audio System-wrong or right direction?

Hey All,

After about six months of searching I finally pulled the thrigger on a 2009 black dbl cab sport with 24k, leather, sunroof, remote start, Eclipse 7" nav/bluetooth. after de-badging and pulling the Sport stickers of the sides, i am ready for my next mod...I have a budget of about $700-800. for a speaker and amp upgrade and wanted some feedback. I did the whole local audio shop thing and to be honest was disappointed. It was either all or none... they wanted to set me up with a $100 front speaker upgrade or drop 2k into components and twin subs with 1000 watts... Is there something somewhere in the middle. As I heard many times, I don't want to rattle neighbor's house but i would like some clean highs and solids lows....

Below are a few items I tagged from Amazon. After everything ships I should still have a couple hundred as reserve should I need anything extra for installation. Not sure if I want to attempt this as a DYI. (its been many years since I wired up my own goods

Anyway let me know what you think

1- Rockford Fosgate Prime 600-Watt 5-Channel Amplifier
2- Polk Audio DB6501 6.5-Inch 2-Way Component System
3- Polk Audio DB651s Slim-Mount 6.5-Inch Coaxial Speakers
4- Single Car Truck Wedge Black Subwoofer Box Sealed Enclosure for 8-Inch Woofer 8F
5- Polk Audio AA3085-A MM840 DVC 8-Inch Subwoofer
6- DB Link PK4Z 4 Gauge Power Series Amplifier Installation Kit
7- Metra 72-8104 Speaker Connector for Select Toyota Vehicles

As mentioned the entire package shipped is under $600. however, I agree you get what you pay for! Also, if there are any other items that I missed that are needed please let me know.

comments!

Thanks in advance for those who take the time....

What is the output per each channel of the amp? I know it's the 4 6.5's and then the sub but does it break it down more?

I'd say you're going in a good direction. I have Polk subs in my truck, had them about 10 years and they still sound great. Never used a Fosgate amp but I have the 6x9's in my single cab and love em.

If you're not looking to be heard 3 blocks away I believe that's a good setup.

the amp is rated as follows:

50 Watts x 4 + 200 Watts x 1 @ 4-Ohm
75 Watts x 4 + 300 Watts x 1 @ 2-Ohm

still a little reluctant with the read coaxial, they received great reviews but they don't look like much...

I would personally get the Polk MM6501 over the DB. The DB sounds good but the mids and highs are so much crisper on the MM series in my opinion. I love the polk speakers though. Good choice.

Screw the back speakers, you'll never hear them

Get a good component system, don't do coaxials.

Personally I'd get a single 10 instead, but if your taste is in higher bass then so be it.

Save the money you would have spent on rear speakers and get a little bit of sound deadener for the front. It was night and day difference on my truck.

^That too. Leave the backs alone, they just fill and do a fine job. Spend that money on the MM6501 upgrade.

All good points... I added the MM6501 and pulled out the DB's. as for the sub, i prefer the lower note of a larger 10 but was concerned with not having enough power to move the speaker enough. my thoughts were smaller woofer better punch at lower volumes. just my thoughts

You'll get better performance on a 10 than you will an 8 with the same power, at least IMO. I'm running 250 watts on a 10 in a custom box and it keeps this former basshead happy.

I have a single cab, but I would tend to echo the sentiment about put more of your $$ in the front set. My wife has a Rav4 and when I drive that I don't even really hear the rear door speakers. Either that or get 6x9's for the front and the better 6.5 ones for the rear.

Plan maybe $250 for install. Just pulling it out of my head but my bill was $325 for mine recently. That included a head unit which you already have though.

A low power 10" will still be as good or better than an 8". The low range is greater with a 10". I have a single Rockford Fosgate 10" with about 275w going to it and it will rattle the cab just fine. A lot better than the 2 polk 8" I had previously. It doesn't carry for other cars to hear, but it's plenty for the cab. I'm actually trying to get rid of it because it's too much bass. I want the rear seat room over the thump.
