wire and box question

Hi I have a alpine type R 12 can handle 600rms and 1800watts and a Kenwood Kac-8105D 1000-Watt Class D Mono Amplifier. Is this amp good to power the sub? And what gauge wire should I run to the amp? and whats a good gauge speaker wire? and what would be a better box to get for a single sub my ported box sucks and i think it is cracked.

 

it says you can run 8 guage... and is you sub dual 2ohm or dual 4ohm because this will change how you tire it for this amp

 

Honestly, I wouldn't run anything less than 4ga. for the amp. Both power and ground should be the same. Make sure you have a fuse that equals the total of the fuses on the amp near the battery, for safety and amp health.

As for from the amp to the subs, 10ga. would be good. I have 500w on tap and I use 12ga., so you're probably good with 10. 8 if you can swing it.

 

^^ agreed i was just saying 8g because thats what it said it called for and its only 425 rms but i prefer 4g on all of my setups because you really cant go wrong with 4g
