two 8" subs, or one 10"?

Looking to start gathering parts for a small "system" in my DCLB. I'd like to go with (2) 8-inch subs. What do the experts think? Or should I go with one 10 inch?

My last "system" was in a Honda Prelude back in the early '90's, where I had two Orion XTR15 DVC in parallel to 1-ohm, in a Single Bandpass box, on an Orion 225HCCA amp. Man, I miss that amp!

Another question - How much does the plastic of the seatback block the sound from the sub? If I want to port or vent my enclosure, where could I vent it to? The side? The front?

If you guys offer some insight, I promise I won't crank out the C&C Music Factory.... of course, I might still have that old Milli Vanilli CD somewhere.....

Seriously - just trying to add some nice, dry bottom end to the tunes.

I personally have two JL 8W3s in my 2010 double cab. I'm 42 and love it. Might not overall satisfy my younger days, but it still impresses some of the younger crowd I show it to. Good output and nice SQ. I have done 3 8W3s on the passenger side for a customer and that had great output. I chose the driver side for my two because I didn't want to lose the child anchor.

 

Why not 2 10"s?

 

If your willing to get good quality subs, then id recommend two 8's. They will supply a little more punch than one 10 when you want it. Id recommend two JL Audio 8w3's. Those will be sweet!

 

Whatever you get, get jl.... I had 2 8w7's in my Denali before this truck and they were the best sub I've ever heard. The clarity is bar none and they bumped like a mother! Got my taco and got 2 Memphis subs, and they sucked! Now I have a 13tw5 and love it!
