I'm sitting here trying to install my GTA iPod kit in my 2011 Tacoma. Got the radio out and go to plug in the module to the supposedly open port. I don't have an open port. The port where they want me to put the plug already has a black plug clipped in it!

I tried unplugging this to see what it affected. My xm satellite seems fine (I don't subscribe but the xm preview channel works), my CD player plays the cd I have in there. The Aux port still works. What the heck is that thing!?

Not happy that GTA sold this kit saying it will work and now I have this issue.

    Thanks

Looks like it might be for a rear view camera?? (If you have one?)

    or..

    Maybe a bluetooth mic?

Steering wheel buttons definitely work. I have not checked the rear view camera. If be surprised if that plugged into the radio but who knows.

My other guesses are: prewired for the factory sub? Or some prewired type thing for the satellite receiver? Although I think it's integrated already in that six disc head unit. Ugg. This should be so easy to figure out and no one can. Even my friend who is a tech at Toyota can't figure it out from his diagrams.

post up the damn Panasonic model and part number and we can search
google for you, or perhaps you can do it yourself

not gonna lie... this is a non-issue if you can read the sticker on the back of the unit

Glad this will be a non-issue! Tech at toyota can't figure it out with my radio model number, and I can't find anything on google.

    It's model: 86120-04200

There's some other numbers on it like a serial and a long bar code number, so let me know if that could help.

    Thanks

I figured model number would narrow it down enough but here's the whole thing

What the hell crawled up your ass?? Guy is just asking for help, clearly he has done his research the best he can and even Toyota is confused so if you don't have anything to contribute then don't get involved. If someone asking for help gets to you this much then just shut up and gtfo.

What's wrong with people these days taking shit so personal!

OP, see on that harness there is 1 or 2 black wires, except they aren't wires... They are wrapped in electrical tape? That is the "shield" or "-" side of an audio signal, typically from an RCA. Knowing that makes me think that that plug is your aux input. Its the only external source for that radio that would use those wires.

It could also be the "-" side of a video signal meaning your backup camera, but that wouldn't make sense since your new input goes to that plug. It has to be audio. Test your aux input down by your cigarette lighter plugs. Bet that's it.

    Thanks all.

I thought it might be the factory AUX plug to, but nope..that still works fine with that black one unplugged! I just got home so I'll go run and test the backup camera. I'll be really bummed if that's it because I don't want to give that up for a stupid ipod kit. My fingers are still crossed that it is just a prewire for either bluetooth or the OEM JBL subwoofer or something. For now, the mystery continues.

Ok the backup camera still works so its not that either!

Here are a couple more close ups of the plug in question in case anyone can discern anything from that.

    Thanks!
