Again, this is rough. The more and more I think about it, I might want this to go behind the driver's side rear seat, with the amp under the drivers seat. I'd have to go make sure this would fit so don't take this as a "100% this will work" type thing. Of course this could be different depending on the sub used.

Also, I am using 1/2 MDF as I need all the space I can get.

Here is a pic of the template beind the driver siderear seat.

You can see up at the top the small tan extension that butts against the wall

On the bottom you see where the template butts against the tab that sticks out the furthest off the wall (factory storage mounting point, possible securing point for the box itself).

Yes, there is available room on the front side of the template to extend the box further but I want ample room for seats to fold and subs to play.

Also, I may want to put the plastic bins back in one day, so that's the idea of leaving the tabs on the wall at the bottom at the back. If you want more depth, cut those off. Be careful though cause you could cut a hole in the rear wall if you aren't careful.

    So here ya go...

    Looks good dude.

Yeah, I'm with you. I don't want to take anything off/out of the truck besides the plastic bins either.

I'll try and make a template this weekend and see how it goes. I'll be sure to post pics.

Also, is that bottom measurement on your template the 7" as depicted in your drawing? If so, I feel like I'll have more room than I thought.

Yes. The template pictured above is the exact dimensions of the drawing in the first post.

    Tj0hn,

Alright, so I'm feeling pretty confident about your box after seeing the template. So I wanted to see if my speaker would fit.

From the picture, I think this would work but would like your opinion. The speaker itself sticks out 3/4" from the face of the box. Do you think that would hit the seat?

You do have to drill out the spot welds and take out the child seat restraint points that are on the brace running along the rear wall.

Is that box in your CAD the exact dimensions of my depiction in the first post? If so, then you have more than enough room for a 3/4" sub face to fit.

It maybe close with the seat folded down as far as if the sub is playing, but with the seat up, you should have more than enough room.

Draw up a template on some cardboard based on my dimensions and test it out! That's the reason I put all this info out there.

P.S. everyone, I had a freebie day from the wife saturday to do my box due to it being my birthday this week BUTTTT, I caught food poisoning sometime friday and spent all friday night and most of saturday pooping and puking everywhere...yay me.

So, my build is put off another week or two. Plus, I just started Physics II, so it may be a while.

    Tj0hn,

So I did a test with your template... AWESOME FIT. I added a piece of cardboard as if it was the sub and had no problems. Unfortunately, I am going to be busy until the first weekend in November but that weekend is going to be my build/install weekend. I can't wait.

Yep. Designed only to have to drill out child seat restraints.

So finished the box a couple of weeks ago and got it installed last week.

    Some notes from my build...

    1) I was in a huge rush when building the box and made the top depth a 1/4" to deep, so I had to take the plastic off of the passenger side seat to get it to latch..no biggie.

    2) I am not pleased with the overall tone of the box...I am running a JL 700/5 that is (I think) 300w @ 2 ohms for subs....I bought 2 - 8 ohm subs getting a 4 ohm load at the amp cutting my power in half...

    3) I bought 16oz of Poly-fill and stuffed the box and it sounds much better, but still not the level of sound or tone that I wanted.

    4) I bought the Rustoleum bedliner coating at Wally world and used it to coat the box....not the greatest stuff....either I did it wrong or this stuff is just bad. It looks bad in my opinon.

The way forward...I am overall pleased with the whole setup, just expected more. I am going to try one day and either build a bigger box. Utilizing a smaller amp rack and extending the box around the brace at the 60/40 split gaining more airspace

    OR

I am going to pick up the Kicker CompS 8 SVC @ 4 Ohm and sell these CompC8's @ 8 ohm...Just not sure that utilizing more of my availabe power is going to get the result I want, which is louder and more solid bass.

I'll try and throw some pics up this weekend.
