I do not suggest seat belt mounts. You ground should go into the frame. Get a JL Ground Plug and grommet and it will be 100% correct. Seat belt mounts do not attach to the frame.

I actually found a bolt that is being used as a ground already, so i attached the amp's ground wire to that. It's close to the pre-cut opening in the carpet where the factory wires come out to plug into the seat (probably seat belt alarm and air bag plugs). You can see this bolt when you u-clip the carpet along the trim and lift up on it. I didn't sand at all. It seems to work fine.

That doesn't sound like a very good ground location to be honest. Bad ground causes lots of issues. Good luck.

I may sand it and possibly re-position it if i have issues, but I don't at this time.

It's got a clip on it similar to the ground wire that attaches the negative terminal of the car's battery to the frame of the car. I think this bolt is designed intentionally as a ground by Toyota so that gives me some confidence.

Remember, you are grounding an amp. Not a light, sensor or something that has little power draw.

But what do I know, I've only been installing stereo's for 16+ years now. :anonymous:
