What is your budget? If you can swing it, JL Audio makes great amps. Also, I have never been unsatisfied with Alpine. My last set up used a Kicker 5 channel amp which sounded great with the Infinity Kappa components. My current setup, I am using Alpine Type Rs with the same power ratings as what you described. I bought a used JL Audio 300/4 from someone on Ebay since there is no way I can afford a new one of that model. The biggest thing we need to know is what are you looking to spend on an amp and then go from there.

thanks for the response. I ended up going with an Alpine PDX-F4 amp. I won't have it installed for at least 1-2 weeks so i can't comment on how it sounds yet.

Alpine PDX series is a good amp. .I'm just not a huge fan of Class D technology. Really want to hear your opinion on the ID speakers after they break in.

I will probably purchase those speakers when I get a buyer lined up for the speakers I have for sale right now:

    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2n...pe-r-*********-mount-front-door-speakers.html

I'm not an expert with amps, so I'm not sure if I'll relaly be able to tell the difference between a Class D and Class A/B amp for mid/highs. The review on this amp for mid/highs seems to be good though. I did see some discussion about buzzing noises when the PDX series was released a few years ago and hope that it has been resolved by now.

i ended up biting the bullet and purchasing the Image Dynamics and speaker mounts from *********.

i will create a new thread on this, but i need recommendations on sound deadening. i previously cheaped out and bought the roofing repair tape from home depot (http://www.homedepot.com/p/t/202267102#.UoPaUPmgmao) to use as sound deadening. it worked awesome for a while and saved me a bunch of money. however, the other day i noticed a rattle, so i took the panels off and saw that most of this tape stopped sticking and fell off the door. it feels just as sticky as a sample of Hush Mat when i installed it at first.... i'm guessing i didn't apply enough pressure when i first installed them, then with time, offroading, and dust from off-roading, the stickiness eventually wore off. i saw considerable dust on the sticky surface of the pieces that come undone.

Thanks for the recommendation on the sound deadening. Seems like a lot of people are happy with it and it's actually not too expensive.

I think I have everything I need now. Now I just have to wait for all my orders to come in and then install them.

Is there a good place beneath the seat to connect the ground without drilling any holes? I guess I will find out, but I would appreciate any pointers.

I plan to run the power cable through the fire wall through the driver's side kick panel. RCA's will go from deck down the center console to the driver's side passenger seat where the amp will be sitting. Any suggestions?

    Yeah, the seat mounting bolts.
Sand away the paint to a shiny surface.

I'm just waiting on the speaker mounts from *********. Either they forgot to include the mounts in the box with the Image Dynamics Speakers or they are sending in separately in a second box. I emailed and called them but have not heard back. It's only been a day, so hopefully they respond tomorrow. I need to put my doors back together!

Curious to know how those CTX65CS speakers sound in the Tacoma. Reviews I've read say they got great midbass impact. I'm thinking about getting a set for my wife's CRV along with a pair of CTX65 coaxes for the rear.

Are you planning to bridge the F4 for the pair?

I wasn't planning on bridging them. I will have 2 extra unused channels though because I don't have any speakers in the rear access doors.

The recommended power is 100 RMS for each speaker. The PDX-F4 puts out 100 RMS for each channel (certificate says 115 actual). Wouldn't doubling the recommended power to 200 - 230 RMS be bad for them?

it's not bad if you're careful with the volume knob. you can set amp gains low enough that the amp will not put out enough to blow your speakers.

more power is not a bad thing. it equates to better dynamics. personally i'd bridge the amp and set gains accordingly.

The install is complete. I think I'll keep the amp unbridged for now. That may change later.

The speakers sound the same as my old setup when the volume is set from low to medium. However, when I turn them up, the new setup sounds much better. I'm not hearing distortion like I was before.

I will need to tinker with the tuning tomorrow. I really don't have much experience with this. I feel that there is a gap in sound between the base and the woofers of my component system.

Were you using Type R components? How do the IDs sound compared to the Alpines? I am running a set of the type R 6 1/2' Components and are happy with the way they sound.

    I was using Alpine SPR-69C Hi-End 6 x 9 2 way coxials before these ID's.

I can hardly tell the difference until I have the speakers turned up. When the volume is high, there is much less distortion, probably due to the amp itself.

I'm not an car audio expert so please keep that in mind.
