The S8 one might be a little confusing because the diagram shows it upside down. Glad you were able to get it to work though. If anyone is ever in doubt you could always check the continuity with a multi-meter between the pins in Z1 and S8 then just make sure the switch harness matches up with them. But like you said it should become clear once you get in there.

Got mine installed and working this afternoon. Thanks guys!

Listed the 2013 steering wheel controls on the forum. See if I can send to someone else to get another truck set up.

    I have 2 questions.

    1. Has anyone tried to disconnect the speed sensor from the radio to see if it will allow you to program the Navigation while moving and not negatively impacting anything?

    2. Does the Navigation unit still allow you to connect two bluetooth devices simutaneously? i.e. one connected as a phone and the second connected as an audio playing device.

    Thanks for your help.

    1. Yes, it causes pretty bad drift

    2. Yes, from the HU menu you can separately connect phone and audio devices.

What do you mean drift? The icon on the Navigation loses where it is at?

It probably won't be accurate when estimating distance to destination.

OK so I just purchased the Nav Unit from FL Trucks, I want to get the 2014 Controls as well. Can someone tell me exactly what I need to make the controls work?

Here are the part numbers I am looking at getting.

    84250-04040-B0 - Steering wheel controls

My question is what pin terminal do I buy? I am thinking I need 3 one for each end of the S3 wire that I have to fabricate from the steering wheel to the radio, and one for pin 9 to ground the illumination circuit.

    82998-12420 - $4.93 a piece
    82998-12870 - $12.43 a piece
If there is an aftermarket company I could use to source these, who sells them and what part number?

I appreciate all help in this matter. Thanks

I just purchased the HU from FL Trucks and realized I need the 2014 controls as well. I have been reading this thread for a couple of hours trying to educate myself before purchasing. Where did you purchase your 18-gauge wire? Trying to get the best deal....

    Items to purchase:

-84250-04040-B0 from Camelback (2014 steering wheel controls)
    -(3) Sumitomo TS Sealed 025 Female Terminal 0.22-0.5 mm2 [Brass/Tin]
    -Ground connector
-18-gauge wire and heat wrap for ground connector if desired
    Anything I am missing?

    And to confirm-
Pin 3 on S8 (wire harness in steering wheel) to pin 24 on back of radio? How hard is it to route the wire?
Pin 9 on S8 (wire harness in steering wheel) to ground under dash? (where exactly is this ground? Does anyone have photos of the location?)

I am also assuming that there is currently no wires in these 2 pins for 2013 on the S8 connector...

Does anyone have a closeup of the S8 to rule out the confusion of the diagram?

    Thanks!

I think I posted pictures of the s8 farther back in this thread. The ground is very obvious when you pull the plastic shroud off. Other then that I think you are set

I wouldn't use 18 gauge its too thick for those connectors. I had a tough time with 20 guage. Well not tough but I should have used 22 gauge. If you were in Canada I would send you some pins but they probably get to you quicker from that site.

Where did you purchase your wire from? How hard was it to route the wire through the steering wheel to behind the radio?

I purchased the wire from Canadian tire! Was like 5 dollars. It was easy to route the wires for me I followed what I used for heated mirrors and amp remote wires I added. A coat hanger with the wire taped on worked well.

I would be interested. I was just quoted $11 to ship 10 of these. Let me know.

Has to be the GPS antenna connection to the radio or placement. Should start troubleshooting there.

This Doc from Toyota says the grid lines are in the display on the radio.

Looking for a replacement S8 plug. I destroyed mine trying to add the two pins to enable the left/right and LED lights to function. I have been searching the interwebs with no success. If anyone can point me in the right direction it would be appreciated.

Okay, not only did I trash the S8 plug when adding the new controls, I also cannot get the back up camera to work now on the 2014 head unit? Someone please help!!! I double checked all the connections they are all good in the proper pin locations and nothing; not even a glitch in the screen when I put it in reverse. I am at a loss. Got the new NAV head unit with new controls up and running but I ended up losing illumination on the steering wheel and back up camera in the process. So I know I need a new S8 connector to fix the steering wheel issue, but this camera issue is about drive me fucking batty!!!!! I need help PLEASE!!!!
