I have a dumb question; I bought some Stinger Electronics Road Kill Carpet Pad Sound Deadener to lay on the floor boards after I installed the Shok Mat sound deadener from the group buy. The pad has a dense foam side and an even more dense, plastic like side. Which side goes up/down? It seems like the foam side would go down, but the instructions on the packaging do not indicate.
    Any help greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Ken

You are right, it does look like the shiny side (the one with the plastic) goes down, but when I watched their "how to" video on You Tube, it looked different. I don't understand why they don't just tell you SOMEWHERE in any variation of instructions they give. I did use the contact form as well as waited for 1/2 hour on the phone today only to have the line sputter and go dead.
    Here is their YouTube video:

    Thanks,

Negative guys.....that stuff should be installed foam side DOWN.

Here's how it works. Basically, you use foam to float a very dense noise barrier over a surface that transmits noise (the sheet metal). This is called decoupling. I have my entire Tacoma done this way.

That is one of the many reasons that I love this forum, there is a LOT of knowledge here and a LOT of smart people willing to share their knowledge to help others out. Now I can finish (hopefully) my deadening project!
    Thanks again,
    Ken
