SO I have a 2014 Tacoma Prerunner Double Cab, and im wanting to put 2 12 inch subs behind the backseat. I do not have much experience with putting subs in a Tacoma so my question is : would this box fit properly behind my backseat? I know it says it does but I want to make sure!
    http://www.xtrememobilesolutions.com/tac165-subwoofer-box-enclosure
what box would you recommend for 2 12 inch subs?
Second question: what 12 inch subs should I have that create the biggest bang but have the best clarity?? Kicker CompVT?
Third Question: What amp should I have running with this set up?
    Thanks for the help! :)

To be honest, I'm not a fan of recent Kicker gear. It seems that Kicker has gone downhill in the past couple years. I really love my Sundown SD-2's that produce some serious bass, and can handle some good power. I'm running two 10's with a 1500w amp. I can really get some decent performance from them, and I'm in the middle of building and sealing and painting a ported box for them. But the 12's have a mounting depth of 5.75 inches, so they should fit that box easily. Maybe a little trimming of the part that clears the brace along the back wall, because these subs have a decent sized magnet. But look at Sundown, I don't think you'll be disappointed. Only thing is, you'll more than likely have to remove the plastic off the back of the seats, as these subs have some really good excursion, and might hit the plastic.

yeah I was going to anyways because I wanted them to have better breathing room :) so what amp should I run with 2 12"s? and your saying the box that I put a link to would fit perfectly behind my seats for 12's?

That box ought to work just fine, I have one similar if not the same in my '10 single cab. Prior I had split boxes that came from my Chevy Colorado and I changed to get more leg room. I'd definitely invest in speaker grilles as well if you weren't already going to do so..just keeps the subs safer IMO.

I'm running 2 MTX 12's and a Jensen 600 watt. I realize the amp isn't great and probably not feeding that much ever, but it still works after 13 yrs so I'm hanging on till it croaks.

Give me a ballpark for your budget to do this and I'll see what I can suggest. The ones you mentioned would fit, although with a little trimming you can get bigger ones in. Mine are 6 or 6.5 depth and dropped right in. I'd definitely use polyfill on the inside as well.

Can't go wrong with that for the price. I was looking for one for quite a while, actually got mine from another member here.

So figure that's 150 or so for the box. Check out Hifonics stuff..had a few of them and always satisfied. I'd guess you can scoop up the amp and subs for around 400-500 with a little digging, I like the Brutus amp myself but just personal preference.

I had a Hifonics Brutus amp, bought it when I bought my Sundown subs. It smoked and died about 4 months later, the subs are still kicking. Right now, I'm running a Sundown SAX-1500d amp with my subs, and it's been fantastic. One thing I can certainly recommend, run 1/0 gauge cable from the battery to the amp, and from the amp back to the battery. I've got the SR5 package with the 110A alternator, and an Optima Yellow Top battery, and I don't get major swings in voltage that I did when I grounded the amp to the body of the truck. Either way you go, do the Big 3 upgrade, and get an amp that will run the subs you pick with some good juice, so you don't lose performance from the subs. I know Rockford makes a decent 1000w amp that runs at 1 ohm http://www.crutchfield.com/p_575P1KX1BD/Rockford-Punch-P1000X1bd.html
so make a decision on how you want to wire the subs, SVC or DVC 4ohm or 2 ohm and start a list on what's really important for you to get the best performance for you.

again im pretty new with the whole subs thing. lots of my friends have them and i love them but never took the idea of subs seriously until now. so ohms what do they do is it better to have higher ohms or lower ohms for serious bass!!? and performance for me would be loud hard hitting (where you FEEL the BASS) subs. thanks for the help guys!

Interesting..I've had a couple sets of their speakers, had one of the HF amps a while ago and liked it. That's odd to hear especially since my POS Jensen is 13 yrs old and still kicking.

Rockford Fosgate makes good stuff too..

Yeah, I'm not sure what happened to it, it just started crackling and smoking, and died on me one month out of warranty. Just not too impressed with them. It was a decent amp, and powered my subs well, maybe I was pushing it too hard, I don't know. I'm just providing my experience with HF.

i second the sundowns.ive owned a shallow mounted sd10,two sa8 v1,two sa8 versions 1.75 and now own sd8s which are goin under the seats of my double cab once i have time.there great budget woofers and get loud. another good thing about them is that they are reconeable.as for an amp i would sugest rockford fosgate punch p1000-1bd or the power t1000-1bdcp.

I run one kicker 12 comp VT in a sealed box. It's behind the driver side rear seat. I had to remove the backing of the seat and the plastic storage bin. I like it, but I don't know if I would do it again. It sounds great, but sometimes a think a solid 10 inch in a custom box that fits the storage cubby would be better. Just my 2 cents. Good luck on whatever you decide.

i 3rd sundown. awesome subs. i have the cheapest line they sell, an e10v2 paired up to a pioneer class d amp that pushes 500w rms at 2ohms and it hits so much harder than my shallow mount kicker cvt 10 ever did. oh and i have it in a cheap walmart scosche box. so all together for my sub/amp system it costed about ~$260. not too bad i would say.

edit: when it comes to installing and wiring check out crutch field. they have some great diagrams.
