    OK I give up. Only wire I haven't connected on my back up cam is the reverse wire under the kick panel.

    2006 TACOMA access cab.
    I tried prying off the foot rest and it is not coming.
    I don't want to break it as someone did on my last Tacoma.
    Is there a trick to it ??
    Thanks in advance guys.
    AND I DID a search for about 2 hours before I asked.
    Great FORUM guys.
    Saved my but on this install.

    On my 2014, the foot rest/dead pedal just pulls off.

    Did you unscrew the cap thing? There's a screw that's has a cap with 3 holes on it. Once that is unscrewed it should pop off

    Hi;
    I can just about see the 3 hole screw.. But I am wondering how to get the foot rest thing off. I really tried prying it already!
    Is there some trick to it??
    I just don't want to break the mounts.
    Thanks;

    Foot rest should just pull straight off. Pull it straight towards the rear of the truck.

    I can't speak for the 2006, but I just grab mine and pull and it comes off. There is enough gap on mine to get my fingers under it and it comes right off. I guess it is possible that yours is different. I've had mine off 3 or 4 times in the last month...

    There should be a black plastic knob that you need to unscrew before you can pull it straight up and out.

    He's talking about the foot rest itself before you can see the plastic knob you have turn off to take the trim off.

    You can really yank on it. Takes more force than you'd think. Once you undo the black plastic nut the kick panel comes out straight toward the back of the cab. You need to pop the plastic floor piece that trims the carpet by the door first iirc.

    If you do break it you can get a new one off ebay for 20 bucks. I broke mines when I pulled it off.

    Great...... That is what I was afraid of!!
    My last Tacoma had the foot rest studs that were broken off right at the floor. They must have come off with the foot rest.
    I tried prying it off yesterday with a small pry bar. It doesn't want to come off.
    Wish that red/white wire showed up some place easier to get at???
    Thanks. 0¿0

    Well, I grabbed the foot rest and it did come off. A lot more effort than I expected. But now it goes on and off fairly easy.
    Kick panel removal was without a hitch as well.
    I hooked up the red/white reverse wire and now my Pioneer AVH-X3600BHS installation is complete. Not sure if I will need a switch to put camera on without the reverse yet. I'll see how it goes

    Thanks to the forum and all the guys input.
