Camera Source now has a backup camera kit for the 2014s. You don't have the take the radio out just replace the tailgate harness.

you still may have to take out the head unit if it's not wired to it...unfortunately my 14 was wired at the tailgate, but not to the radio...i ended up having to order the wiring interface to run to my radio now from camera source.

yeah. if you only have 1 wire coming out at the bottom harness instead of 4, then you're not wired to the head unit.

The tailgate is wired and connected to a harness under the truck. How difficult is it to remove the head unit if needed?

I haven't taken it out yet, but looks simple to remove...however,Routing all of the new harness wires behind the dash to the head unit is gonna be a huge pita because of all the trim removal, etc...

I see 4 wires going into the tailgate connector and 4 wires going out to the truck harness. Maybe I'm ok. Another poster in a different thread, also has a 14 Prerunner SR like mine and it was plug and play.

If you have 4 wires coming out of the truck harness yours will be plug and play. Here's my harness with the 1 wire....I won't even be using any of the factory wiring with this install...My new harness should be here today...As soon as it stops raining here I'll install it.
