Been a TW member forever, but never post.

I used to have a 2005 PreRunner which was sadly totaled (not my fault). The insurance company let me take some stuff off of the old truck before it went of to the wrecker and I grabbed my JL Sub, box and amp (pictures below). I just bought a brand new 2014 DC TRD OR and while I previously got the sub and amp professionally installed now I have a car payment...so moneys a bit tighter and I'd like to do the install myself if possible. I have a degree in physics and am pretty mechanically inclined but I don't really know anything about audio systems.

Anyway, I've seen a bunch of threads where everyone always shows the physical install of the sub box and running the power cable from the battery, to the fuse, then through the firewall and under the door sill to the amp behind the back seats. But I don't understand how to get the signal from the factory head-unit to the amp and cant find any good links that address this for a 2014. I'm not even sure if I need to buy some sort of signal processor for behind the head-unit. Any help would be HUGELY appreciated!!!

    Thanks in advance!

Are you using the factory deck or aftermarket?

Is your truck already gone? Any way you could go pull all the old wiring and get a feel for how it was put together?

I'm using the factory deck, Its brand new (only 4 days old) and I'd like to keep the stock look inside, for now at least. And sadly yes, the trucks gone. I only had about 5 minutes to grab anything/everything I could off of it before the insurance repair shop closed the gate and towed it off in the morning.

Okay, then you have two options. One, see the white plug on the side of the amp, that's for speaker level connections. Do you have the plug that goes in there? Can you find one somewhere?

    Second option. Something like http://www.crutchfield.com/p_161LC7IW/AudioControl-LC7i-White.html?tp=61401
This takes the factory signal from your deck, pick a speaker, and converts it to low level input that you can plug from the RCA connectors on the converter to the RCA inputs on the amp.

Then you need to run power and ground, and a remote turn on lead to the amp, and connect the speaker leads to the sub box. That's the basics. For more info on how to hook up a converter, go to this thread. http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/au...-converter-help-needed-harness-wires-tap.html
