Hey guys, relatively newcomer to TW here. Bought my first Tacoma, a 2008 TRD Off Road double cab in SSM, about a month ago.

Installed a new headunit yesterday, JVC KW-V20BT. Everything works perfectly, except my iPod does not turn on with the car/head unit. It's hooked up with the standard iPod 30-pin connector to the USB on the back of the unit.

It works fine, plays the music great, shows album artwork, everything, except I have to manually turn on the iPod, which defeats the purpose of hiding it in the glovebox.

The iPod is an older, 30-gig iPod video.

    Any ideas? Thanks!

Check the compatibility of the deck and the iPod. There may be an incompatibility issue, being the iPod is older. Check the manual, and see if it lists your iPod as compatible. I know Alpine doesn't support the older iPods, they only go back to 5th gen. So it may be as simple as that. Or try someone's newer iPod, and see if that works.

Checked all the manuals, it says it's compatible. Again, once it's on, everything works perfectly. It just doesn't power on with the car.

Try a different USB or iPod cable?
