What is the best model out right now, that can mirror gps navigation off the iphone? Also can use pandora, bluetooth streaming, etc.

    Thanks

By mirror do you want the home screen of the iPhone to show on the HU?

Or are you talking about an HU that has App integration?

App integration would be fine. Although being able to see everything from my iphone would be good too.

I saw the app radio 3 but have heard mixed reviews.

What version of iOS are you on? And are you jailbroken/willing to jailbreak? If you are on iOS 6 and jailbroken, then appradio 3 would be the choice because of appradio extensions. It mirrors your device and allows you to control in via the headunit touchscreen. The developer is currently working on support for iOS 7

I am totally willing to jailbreak. I am actually getting a replacement iphone in the mail today. I am hoping it comes with OS 7.0.4 or 7.0.6 so i can jailbreak it.

Can you tell me more about what appradio extensions you are talking about? Where can i find them?

I think Pioneer just released some info regarding the ability to have "iCar" or whatever that OS is called on their units.

Yeah, here is a link to the thread by the developer..

    http://avic411.com/index.php?/topic/34188-appradio-extensions-20-beta-full-iphone-control/

His first post has in red that iOS 7 isn't supported yet but at the end of the thread he is making comments that he has mirroring figured out, but it requires the parking break bypass, which you'll probably have anyways. He is still working on touch input

If u look on pioneers site it gives u a list of compatible apps. I just use the mirror app and plug it in via USB and can use all apps like netflix and youtube etc. pretty easy. Just make sure u have a ground bypass.

Jailbreaking was cool like 4 yrs ago. Makes your phone run like dogshit. I think its better to get a unit with Carplay and go the legit route, so your phone doesnt freeze and force your to reboot daily. Plus you can update your apps still... get the latest software without waiting for a jailbreak release etc etc...

Or maybe im just old now and dont get it anymore.

I do think Carplay looks pretty slick and all of the tweaks I used to add with jailbreak have pretty much been added to the latest iOS, so there's not a lot of benefit to it anymore. I'm just saying it's not that "idiotic" to jailbreak, especially to get the ability for h/u mirroring. New headunits with Carplay go for around 500-600 at the cheapest. With free jailbreak and a $300 unit, you can do the same thing.

All that being said, I've had an android phone for the past year or so anyways haha
