I have a 2001 Toyota Tacoma Double Cab and I'm looking to put in a whole new Stereo System. Biggest problem is that I would like to add subwoofers, but I don't want to sacrifice seating for it. Anyone know of a way to install subs either behind the seat or under the seats without it costing me and arm and a leg?

You can get a box that will sit behind one of the seats. My friend has a 01, and he has a 10" sub that sounds incredible! I think he paid 180 for it. I'll see if I can get a pic of it.
Or you can find someone to make the storage spaces under your back seats into boxes. I wouldn't image in costing too much.

I don't think the first gen DCs have storage space under the back seats, just behind.

I don't know how much space is behind seats in the double cab, but here is a thread on my regular cab (I have the seat nearly all the way back). You can see how I have everything mounted on a panel.

Also, there is nothing wrong with using shallow mount subwoofers. Unless you have the ears of an owl like some people whom are into car audio do, then a shallow mount subwoofer will work just fine for you.

Searching is your friend on this site. There are many people who have come up with solutions for nearly anything imaginable. I am sure you will find something useful.

Welcome to the site and enjoy!
