Here you go...

Company named Peripheral makes adaptors so you can use steering wheel controls with aftermarket radios.
www.peripheralelectronics.com

Model I used in my non-jbl Tacoma was the PESWIPS and using it with my AVIC-D3.

well i really dont know about the N-4, but i think the Z-2 is great, i will post pics when i get a chance. i got my for 1240 off of ebay, and it works really great. the one thing i really like about th z-2 is that it has a learning algorythm, which means it learns how you drive. whichs ways you enjoy or prefer to go, and i know the z-1 doesnt have that. but since i dont know much about n-4 i would go with the z-1 because i like it so much.

2 good things about the n4 is that it has a bigger screen than all other n units...7" and it also has the best ipod interface that pioneer has out...if that tickles ur fancy. and from what i understand, its still pretty easy to bypass to watch dvd's and change nav info while driving

I am wanting to install the AVIC Z-2 in my 05 Tacoma, but how do you modify the dash? Do you modify the existing dash or do you order a new dash made just for the AVIC Z2? Names of any vendors for this modification would be greatly appreciated.

if anyone is looking for an indash GPS check out the Kenwood DNX7100 I looked at all the systems and this one was definately the best. I read a lot of problems with the AVIC systems check out http://www.avic411.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=19

this system has a lot of cool features including The Ipod interface that is the most comprehensive of them all with all user controls on screen, and it plays videos off your ipod too. other cool features are the screen tilt with negative tilt angle, and controls a really nice EQ and preamp that makes the stock system sound awesome. People ask if I upgraded the speakers all the time.I spent weeks researching the units and was going to get the eclipse unit but then I saw this and was sold with the Built in Garmin 3d GPS with SD card reader to update the firmware and to download maps it is way better than the CD based gps units that are mostly 2d.

the blue buttons on the screen are not always there only if you select the ghost menu

I pod hook up plus USB to play music and to upload backgrounds

Kenwood

I am taking a second look at the Kenwood. CNET gripes about the user interface being too cluttered when using the head unit for anything other than navigation. Your unit looks great. Does it lock you out of the navigation system while your driving like the AVIC Z-2?

NO it doesn't lock you out of anything while you are driving, you can input addresses and search things like stores and restaurants while driving and add them into the route. I have programmed over ten different addresses at a time and it calculates a route to all places and rearranges them to make a straight and easy route.

I read the reviews on cnet about the interface and I was concerned about it too. But after weighing the benefits and the menu layout as the only downside I still picked this unit. It takes about a day or two to really understand the menu but after that it's really easy to use, especially the Ipod interface, there is nothing out there that comes close to the ipod interface with the album artwork and easy menus.
