there should be instructions with both the ine-w940 and the wiring harness that tell you which wires need to be connected where. Did you also get a dash kit and antenna adapter?

If you have no idea what you are doing do yourself a favor and post a thread in your local section here on TW and ask someone for help. Not understanding how a fuse works properly or how to wire up electrical on a basic level will cause damage to your equipment or even worse, catch fire.

I don't think he was trying to be an ass about it. I think he was giving you sound advice by telling you someone local may be willing to lend you a hand. Your first post did come off as someone with very little knowledge so he was just trying to help and didn't want to see someone ruin their equipment.

Pretty easy, I just installed a double din for the first time myself, you should get a wiring harness specific to your tacoma, as well as a wiring harness with your double din. Match up the matching color wires (stripe to stripe, non stripe to non stripe). Strip the ends of the wires of their plastic covering. Twist the copper wires on the tacoma harness and alpine harness together, put a connector over it and crimp it. Do this to all of the matching wires. You may have some wires left over on your alpine harness, so do not connect those. Then its all plug and play from there.

should be 3 power lines. always on, key on, ground

should be 8 speak wires. 4 colors, one with a stripe and one without.

connect all those and turn it on.

check all your fuses...including the one on the HU.
