I would almost go the same route you did, but I got the supplies, and just need the time.

on a scale of 1 - 10, how much better is that driver than the stock tweeter in that location?

    edit:

also, how did you tie in the wiring? just make pigtails, connect to the speaker, cut existing wiring and adapt?

it is more efficient and tons brighter. at least a 6. again it is rather "shouty" meaning a rising response.

cymbals can actually be heard now, vocals project very well.

i just cut and added connectors.

    cool.

what kind of head unit are you using? does it have a parametric eq so you can tone down the shoutiness? does it sound like the speaker is limited from the tweeter hole in the door panel?

stock deck, don't plan on changing

clearly not enough power though, i will need an amp very soon.

probably gonna go with www.minidsp.com for extreme adjustability. i can't see spending $500 for the JBL MS8 or more for things i don't really need.

Im thinking of a helix dsp, eventually. lying in wait, I have an mtx 4300(fronts), and a zed minotaur(subs).

still waiting on subs to come out, and slowly purchasing wiring kit, and other things, as I plan to wire for future, additional upgrades.

Sub'd. You seem to be going where I would like too. How do you feel about alpine components? Looking to go 6.5 thought front and rear along with a 4 channel amp. Their tweeters and crossovers also..

i am headed this direction because i don't like any of the prepackaged options on the market. to my ears they do nearly nothing right, least of all raise the soundstage from calf level. with the Dayton RS75's in the upper door i now have decent highs and a soundstage approaching dash level. i will be tweaking them and the crossover this weekend. amplification and 8's for the doors are next on the order list.

Slow - have you verified the RS75's fit there? I was also looking at the Fountek FR88's for that spot - look to be very similar in depth/design.

looks nice, i can tell you that 8s work really well in the front doors. Ib application is perfect with the door size if u can get the panel properly sealed off from the cab

My new set up was supposed to have 4 8s and 4 tweeters to keep up with the bass i was going have but i down scaled the entire project as I'm no longer going to compete with the truck.

Only going to be running 1 shok 4xl (150x4wrms) to 2 8s and 2 tweeters per door in a full custom door, i can take pictures tomorrow maybe of the progress and email it to you and we can cross notes etc

didn't get my doors off last weekend, hopefully this weekend.

finally got a decent pic of them behind the stock grille, this should give you an idea of what will actually fit. remember the actual cone of this driver is about 50mm [1.9"]

Thinking I'm just going to go ahead and order a set, and build out my sail panels for my tweets.

just to be clear, these drivers full range with no EQ are very midrange forward. if you look at the response graph from Dayton they are 5db up from 1.5kHz-5kHz then a nice falloff to 15kHz http://www.parts-express.com/pedocs/specs/295-380-dayton-audio-rs75-4-spec-sheet-revised.pdf

i can't hear above about 16kHz [age+air tools+general abuse] so i don't feel there is any information missing where I would want/need a tweeter. these drivers do mids/highs quite well to my ears.

i would probably add sail panel or A-pillar tweeter to help raise the soundstage a bit more, i still might in the future.
