Looks like you're going to have to use a shallow mount sub behind the seat, or you have the option of building a console box.

Here's a build thread on a 1st gen, but he was only installing 8" shallow mounts. Not much room back there, considering most normal 12" woofers these days need 6 or more inches of mounting depth - you most likely aren't going to get a non shallow mount woofer back there.

Looks like you can get a prefab box http://www.supercrewsound.com/04tacomadbldual.html

4" mounting depth though. you're going to have trouble putting a bigger woofer in cause as the opening moves up the box face, the depth drastically decreases.

Custom box will need to be made, or get a pre-fab. Pre-fab boxes are pretty bad though so if you can find someone to make you one it will be better. Mr. Marv makes fantastic boxes.

You'll want to look for shallow subs, or subs under 6inches in depth (that could be pushing it as well depending on your sub box).

I think 6" is too deep for a 1st gen - way less room back there than a 2nd gen. even the guy that glassed his box to the back wall still only ran 4" deep shallow mounts.

It depends on what speaker you use. I used the 10" Pioneer TS-SW2501S4. Its minimum air volume was 0.35 ft^3. The Caraudiofactory box says it is 0.33 ft^3.... close enough. I of course used some polyester fiber stuffing in the box which should make the box appear larger than it is to the speaker.

I had to shave the inside of the box a little bit here and there to clear the frame on the sub, but it fit without too much problem. Was nice nice to get some room back from behind the seat. The dual 8" setup took up almost the entire area back there.

I made a console box after I put bucket seats in the front. The sub is a MMATs pro audio P3.0 10"(now pro cast). Mounting depth is 5.875".
I have a first gen ext cab but it would still fit in a double.
