Has anyone built a custom box for the storage behind the back seats of a double cab? Was it difficult? And does anyone have the dimensions or instructions? Not sure where to install my 10" kicker on this new taco.

I didnt build one, i just bought from *********.com. Its not really complex, but there is a bar on the back wall that you have to build around, and most people usually just take the storage pieces out completely. You can buy a basic 10" sealed box for pretty darn cheap on ebay, i would personally go that route if i wasnt going ported.

I've built a handful of boxes. PM me your gmail and I can send you specifics that you can work off of. You'll want to make it work for your sub and I can help you with that.

Thanks guys. If you find a better place for the subs or know of one in this type of truck let me know too. I'm open to ideas. Just don't want to give up my 10" I want to put it to use. Get a little more bump in the truck.

I'm not sure I'll look at this when I get home from work.

Just post the model number once you get it out of the old box and we can check the depth of the sub and make sure the box specs I gave you will work.

You are going to want to measure that sub, it may be too long.

5.5" is right on the edge, if not just over the edge of being too deep without getting creative with the box design and moving the seat. I have a Dayton sub I was going to use and I laid it out in 3D CAD and it was just too deep. It was also about 5.5" mounting depth.

I ended up buying a Rockford Fosgate Punch shallow mount(3.5" mounting depth) and I just got it in and working the other day and so far I am very pleased with it. Tight and punchy without being obnoxious. It was about $115 I believe. I built the box for it but you could but the supercrewsound one and it would be about the same as one I built.

For the record - I've used those older Reference series subs over the years - amazing bang-for-buck speaker there. I built this for mine - don't have dimensions written down any more, but I would change a few things if I were doing it again (and I might). I'd use 3/8 ply for the back wall, and I'd fiberglass over the support member instead of building a wooden channel to accommodate it.
