As title says, I'm wondering if swapping the OE head unit with an aftermarket unit will affect the operation of my factory backup camera that currently displays in the rear view mirror. Replacement HU will probably not have a video screen of any type, just looking for better sound quality to feed an amp.
Truck is a 2012, basic stereo - no nav or touch screen, non-JBL, etc.

    Thanks

If it's not hooked to the factory. HU now it doesn't matter what you put in there. Even if it was displayed on the factory HU unless you mod the camera feed to hook up to an aftermarket DVD unit it wouldn't work on the HU anyway. If it's just on the mirror now it will be there after you change the HU.
