I traded my 98 on a 2015 Access cab with the basic Etune unit. It works great with bluetooth and my HTC One Android phone. It doesn't recognize the phone with the aux or USB port though. This isn't a big issue. I am more curious than anything. As I mentioned, the phone and music work great with Bluetooth.
Does those ports only work with Apple products like some makes do?

The Aux port is a 3.5mm input right? Like a headphone plug would fit in there? If so then all should need is a 3.5mm male to male cable to plug in from the phones headphone jack into the aux port and then it should output music as long as the phone volume is up. I use this on my Wife 07 4 Runner all the time.

As for the USB, does you phone detect its been plugged in? Can you drop down the menu at the top and choose what type of input device it is or does it not see it at all? Are you using the stock HTC cable that came with the phone?

I don't have any of these features so I'm just guessing as to why USB wouldn't work. Aux should work regardless.

The head unit recognizes that the aux cable (M/M) is plugged in. The aux panel lights up and can be selected. Nothing showing for music though. I turned off Bluetooth on the phone to eliminate a default to BT issue. I will have to investigate further on the USB. I know some drivers on some phones may not work. Using the HTC cable though it is strange that the radio doesn't even seem to see it and reject it.

I have the 2015 with the basic Entune too. I'm pretty sure the usb only syncs with Iphones, but it's still an amazing phone charger. You can still stream music perfectly with the bluetooth. Receiving texts works now after some screwing around, and for the life of me I can't seem to get my contacts sync'd with the headunit. Though I can make phone calls no problem.

It might sound silly, but have you tried turning up the volume on your phone? it may affect your sound.

I'm positive you can't play music on an android through the USB on the Tacoma.

    Btw I have a Samsung S4

Sub'd to see where this goes.

Too poor to list anything interesting.
For the USB, make sure your connection is secure. See if you can wiggle it around and if it picks up. I had that issue when I tried to play music off of a flash drive.

I don't have entune, but my 2013 base head unit does not detect my Nexus 4 when it is plugged into the USB, it just charges. I have not tested it with an idevice.

I figured the USB was limited to Apple for music. It charges the phone just fine. I am puzzled by the auxilary connector though. The volume was up on the phone. Pull the cord and the phone sounds fine. The cord works on my wifes 14 Kia Sportage with my phone.

Is the HU input set to AUX? Have to rule out everything though I figured you already did this.

That is odd. The head unit cannot detect your phone through the aux connection, it is just an analog audio connection. Possibly the jack in your truck is not connected to the head unit?

Yup. aux if grayed out until you put the cord in, it then lights up just like AM and FM (and BT when turned on on the phone). So the HU knows a cord is plugged in.

maybe a bum jack or loose connection between the HU. weird the phone detects it, but doesn't allow sound.

When I then select Aux it even tells me it (the cord) is connected. This rules out a bad connection on the HU.

Have you tried it with another phone/mp3 player? Do headphones work with your phone?

I don't have the etune system, but have the usb and aux ports. The usb is only apple supported I believe. My galaxy s5 also doesnt work through the usb, it only chsrges. It should list what is supported in the entertainment manual for the truck.

As for aux, that should work. You should be able to choose aux mode on your stereo and play music using the controls on the phone.

Headphones work with the phone. I might pick up another cord to try. Since BT works very well this is more of a curiosity than a real issue.
My truck even reads me my email, not much to complain about :) Haven't had it read texts yet. I will have to have someone send me one and try it.

Chris, does the aux port show you any music info when you use it or just that it is connected?

No, it doesnt. It doesn't send and receive data like the usb can. The aux just plays whatever is connected to it.

If it still isn't working try a different device hooked up via the aux. Try an mp3, iPod, or another phone and see if that plays through the aux.
