I've looked on here and Google, but I can't seem to find out how to remove the buttons on the steering wheel. My wife was driving, opened a Sprite and it blew up all over the place. I can't get the sugar off of the back of the volume button and it sticks. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Don't know how to get the module off, but you can get some contact cleaner (TV tuner cleaner) at Radio Shack that works very well at degumming electronic components.

+1 for contact cleaner. Great stuff I used to use on my 280Z to make sure electronics were all clean.

It also doesn't hurt any surrounding materials.

Only downside is that is kind of hit or miss if any particular RS store actually has it. I ended up just ordering it and paying some shipping. I use it on my motorcycle where the switchgear is actually out in the weather and can gunk up.

But the goop is on the outside of the button, not on the contacts. I tried using regular cleaners like Windex and dish soap. The only problem is that there is still a lot of soda inside the steering wheel. So, after the soap dries on the one part you can get to while pushing the button up or down, the soda gets hot and runs all over the button again. that is why I need to figure out how to take it apart and clean inside.

I've even tried using pipe cleaners and Q-tips.

Ahhh, that is clearer then. Try doing some searches for upgrading the steering wheel with the phone buttons. If I recall it shows what you need to do to get those added, and I would think the radio controls would be similar. But I know this was for the pre-12s, not sure what has changed since they added the new steering wheel.

Those mods are for connecting the steering wheel controls to after market head units. The module goes under the dash, near the stereo. Believe me, I have searched how to remove/repair the buttons. I'll figure it out and post the results.

no, the phone buttons on the steering wheel, there was a thread or two documenting adding those phone buttons to steering wheels that did not have them
