    2008 toy taco JBL package
2x10" kicker subs with Kenwood 1000 watt

Tapped into stock JBl sub signal wire coming from the stock JBL amp into a line output converter. Then into Kenwood amp.

    The Issue:

I was out in Barstow and I was driving over some rought terrains when my radio cuts off(no audio from any speakers). I try turning the nob on the radio, but the number didn't move. I let it be and 5 min later I check it and it works fine but still no sound from speakers.

What could the issue be? I checked the fuses under the hood, and the connections in the rear of the radio. Also checked the stock JBl amp plugins. Only thing that I can think of is a blown Stock JBl amp, but why would off-roading cause an amp to blow?

    Any help would be appreciated.

That's what I'm thinking. But other than that, what could it be? A short?

Could be a ground that came loose or a short in the line.

Where do the factory components ground to? Also, how do I check for a short? Thanks

Honestly I'm not sure where the factory JBL grounds too. I didn't pay attention when I ripped it all out of my truck.

I'd get out a DMM and start seeing what powers on and what doesn't. You'll find a dead item somewhere, then start tracing wires. It's a bitch.

hopefully you didn't shake any amplifier internal components loose. although the Tacoma is technically an offroad vehicle, i'd be surprised if JBL went the extra mile on shock/vibration testing. good luck!

Pulled out my amp circuit board and found this. Two of the metal connections are broken and theirs a burn mark. I hope this is the issue that is causing my system not to work. How do I fix this? Can I take it somewhere to get it fixed? I have no experience with circuit boards. Thanks again.

I'm an Electronics Tech (Aircraft Avionics) by trade.
Those rectangular chips look like Pre-Amp or Amp IC's (integrated ciruits) to me. There may be burnt components (resistors, caps, diodes) behind that chip as well. The scorched Board might need repair before mounting new components. If the board is multi-layered,(doesn"t look like it) then forget about it. Though it might be POSSIBLE to replace the toasted IC, it is likely beyond your capabilities if you are not a full fledged Tech, with access to all the necessary tools. Thats supposing you can even IDENTIFY that IC and find a new one in the marketplace.

I doubt that you will find a shop willing to go through the trouble to fix that for you. Paying a bench tech for the amount of hours it would take to troubleshoot, repair and test that device would almost certainly make it Beyond Economical Repair. I doubt that it would even be feasible to replace the entire board.

I'm sure there are HOBBYIST's out there who might be able to fix that. Some people do it for the fun of the challenge. Honestly, its probably not worth it. Replace the entire device. Or, look at this as an opportunity to Upgrade your Audio System.

How do I run the stock speakers off a new amp? What's the original wattage of the stock jbl amp? I'm running my 2, kicker 10" off a 1000 watt kenwood amp right now, but I think that if I were to wire my door speakers to it, It wouldbn't perform as well. What is the best way if I don't want to go back to a stock jbl amp. Thanks.
